IPL/laser questions

Anyone know anything about IPL/laser?

I've had 4 lots of laser removal on my legs and have just bought a Lumea to carry on at home.

Whenever I've done a treatment, the hair carries on growing - is that expected? I was under the impression it should fall out, but mine never does!

Does a follicle potentially require more than one treatment to be effectively made dormant? Wondering if that's why mine keep growing!

TIA knowledgeable MN folk 😊

Keep to the two week cycles and it does stop growing back (and before that happens, the hairs get progressively thinner and weaker).

Are you using the Lumea when there is hair already there? You need to remove the hair first for it to work properly.

And in case you weren’t aware, laser and IPL are completely different things so the Lunea won’t work in the same way the laser sessions did.

I'm shaving first, yes. Are the answers to my questions different depending on if it's laser or IPL?

Laser is a lot more effective than IPL.

Yes, laser and IPL work differently so you’ll see different results. Laser destroys all the hair follicles so you see a more immediate effect. IPL only targets hairs that are actually growing when you use it and only a third of hairs are growing at any one time so it takes longer to get them all. I have actually found IPL more effective in the long term than laser.
