Which leather skirt?

White company one www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/Leather-Skirt/p/PLCLS

Or Whistles www.johnlewis.com/whistles-a-line-mini-leather-skirt-black/p3885067

Would be wearing with a leopard print long sleeved silk blouse , but would like to be able to be casual with it as well as work suitable !

I think the White Company one is more work appropriate but also more fashionable now. I like both though, depends if it's going to be worn mainly casually or for more formal occasions.

0ccamsRazor · 22/03/2019 07:27

If you plan to wear it for work then the White Company one would be the most suitable.

nippedinthebud · 22/03/2019 07:29

I also have a 10% off for white company which is slightly swinging it for me. Thought about getting a faux leather but I think it's one of those things that you take a hit on and it lasts for ever!

No contest. The White Company one.

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/03/2019 13:44

The White Company one is more versatile certainly, I can't think of that many occasions I'd have for the much shorter version.

That being said I would buy faux, the WC skirt doesn't look that well fitting even on the model and I find real leather skirts a lot stiffer than the faux, which tends to mean they don't fit to your body in the right places. I also think they've had their moment a bit, and aren't an ideal spring summer piece( in black especially) other than for the odd night out maybe, so couldn't justify the price over one from say...Topshop.

But if I were picking from the two, the first.

The Whistles one is my favourite as I like short skirts but it's very expensive!!

MadameDD · 22/03/2019 14:49

White Company for me - but as dontgobaconmyheart says I'd maybe look around again - if it's not fitting the model well etc. It's a lot of money to pay for a skirt, even leather so I'd want it to fit well as well as be good quality.

I have had in the past a knee length Jigsaw pencil black leather skirt which was very nice but then I managed to tear slightly the slit at the back which never pleased me. It was fairly nice soft leather though. Also, have a good think about how many times you will realistically wear it - mine - I wore it a fair bit but nowhere near the amount of times I would like to have worn it, for the price etc.

Palominoo · 22/03/2019 14:56

I don't like either. I don't like the panels on the first one.

Some real leather and faux ones here

I have a WC one from a few years back, and it comes up huge - definitely size down if you go for it.

I bought this Jigsaw one last year and have worn it absolutely loads. I tend to wear it quite casually, and always with opaque tights and flat shoes.

Not quite what you are asking but if the WC one is too stiff I have two leather skirts from Reiss which are beautifully soft

DontCallMeCharlotte · 22/03/2019 16:56

I prefer the Whistles one but for work I guess the White Company one.

But I really love the Jigsaw one!

MoltonSilver · 22/03/2019 21:06

White company.

tryingtohaveaniceweekend · 25/03/2019 21:51

The white company one arrived today (along with some delightful hush harem trousers !) - DH thinks I look very sexy, I'm happy with the skirt !

CountFosco · 26/03/2019 05:38

Judy love that Jigsaw one. Even got pockets!

cathyandclare · 26/03/2019 06:38

I have the Whistles one and it's a much more demure length on my stumpy legs. It's definitely work-appropriate for me, I'm 5'3.

Elllllle · 26/03/2019 07:35

I really dislike the a-line leather minis. Glad you like the WC one OP, I think it looked great on the model. I tried on LOADS last year (as in maybe 25+?!) and came to the conclusion that faux leather pencil skirts were far more flattering on me than the real thing (softer, more flexible, more fitted etc). The Reiss leather skirts in particular were really stiff and awkward looking! Also faux is easier to clean. After being prepared to spend 500 for a great one I ended up with Dorothy bloody Perkins. I kid you not.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 26/03/2019 09:18

Ellllllle, which Reiss leather skirts? I've got the dark green and the oxblood ones and they are really lovely and soft.

Elllllle · 26/03/2019 09:47

TheWay, I tried on two in Reiss, both were black, not sure of the style names. One sat funny/stiffly on my hips and one gave me a pouchy tummy?!

Elllllle · 26/03/2019 09:48

(This was 8-12 months ago btw, not recent styles)

TheWayOfTheWorld · 26/03/2019 11:03

Just shows that it is all so hit and miss!
