Simple have discontinued my moisturiser/face wash!

Help! I've been using the oil balancing moisturiser and exfoliating face wash for years. They seem to have replaced it with a different range (daily skin detox) that doesn't have a moisturiser (which seems careless on their part, I mean, really? I thought they were the experts in skincare!)
Can anyone recommend a moisturiser for oily skin? Not just combination, I tried one by L'Oreal and that felt so heavy. I need something that's going to hydrate my skin, mattify it and not dry it out! Definitely no alcohol (L'Oreal being another offender, I wondered why it felt tingly when I put it on and checked the ingredients, alcohol was near the top!)

I have a combination skin, and I love the BareMinerals Smart Combination Lightweight Emulsion moisturiser. Is non greasy and is a fab base for make up!

Have you tried eBay? I hate it when products you rely on are discontinued! Always worth trying eBay though.

BareBelliedSneetch · 22/03/2019 08:06

Have you tried emailing simple to ask what they suggest?

I did that when Aussie stopped making my favourite hair serum. They suggested some things to try, and sent me a voucher to use to try them.

SapphireSeptember · 22/03/2019 09:55

The ones on ebay are seriously overpriced! Amazon have some for Prime members only.

Just emailed them Sneetch! Good idea, I've never thought of that!

Eucerin, Garnier, Pai, Ren, The Body Shop

Superfacialist vitamin c cleansing oil (remove with a flannel) gets rid of oiliness whilst hydrating.

hugoagogo · 22/03/2019 12:32

This other simple one is nice and light?

This sounds like the Simple one! Zinc and witch hazel, ha! I think I might try this one (bonus is it's designed for sensitive skin.)

darklady Some nice suggestions, but way out of my budget. I looked at the Pai stuff and was like 'HOW much for a moisturiser!?' Shock It looks like lovely stuff though.

hugo The trouble with generic (for want of a better term) skincare for me is that it never really works. I have to use stuff specifically designed for oily skin, and then hope it's not too strong because then I get to the other side and it starts to dry it out (which makes it even more oily.) The same problem occurs with my hair. Sad I've now found a shampoo/conditioner combination that works and hopefully THAT won't be discontinued.

Thanks guys, I've got some more ideas now. Smile

Anyone you know who has Amazon Prime you could suck up to OP? Loads of people seem to have it! Otherwise on a budget I really like the Nivea oil free moisturising day cream, its very light and as the name suggests, not oily, and mattifies without drying out. It's usually on offer somewhere.

If not, if it's been discontinued i'd check the likes of poundland/savers/b&m, stuff always ends up in there when its discontinued, i find!

babysharkah · 22/03/2019 23:35

I can highly highly recommend the Superdrug B range. Cheap as chips and loads of options.

Thedarklady · 23/03/2019 11:57

@SapphireSeptember
Oh, the Garnier Anti-Blemish Soothing Moisturiser is the budget option I normally recommend! Team it with one of Garnier cleansing milks (you can rinse them off) and you've got a good combo.

Superdrug B do a fantastic essence and hydrating sprays if you need some lightweight non-oily extra hydration. Apply before mositurising.

The Simple moisturiser has just changed packaging/branding. I've been using the oil free one for ages and love it so I've now switched to the Simple Spotless Skin anti blemish one and it's exactly the same as the previous oil free one. photo attached of the new one.

darklady Excellent! I've found it on the Superdrug website. Smile And it's on offer! (Yay!) I've already found a L'Oreal cleanser I really like:

www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Cleansers/Cleansing-Mousse-&-Foams/L'Oreal-Paris-Pure-Clay-Purity-Foam-Wash-150ml/p/724959

And I'm trying out a serum by Revolution that I got a sample of as a freebie: (The bottle is so cute and tiny I'm keeping it when I've finished it.)

www.revolutionbeauty.com/en/Revolution-Skin-Blemish-and-Pore-Refining-Serum---10-Niacinamide--1-Zinc/m-6691.aspx

Thank you all for your help!

bacon My mum has it, and she uses Amazon pantry a lot, or I could wait till next month to get Prime and just order a load to keep me going.

baby I think I've looked at their stuff before, hmm, I shall think about it.
