Plus-size capsule wardrobe

I’ve been Pinteresting like made for the past few days because I get paid tomorrow and want to buy some staples.

I’ve got an idea of style, casual jeans and layered tops in the main, but I’m wondering if anyone has bought anything recently they really love?

I’m 5ft 4 size 18 (ish) with massive boobs. I will be getting new bras as a first stop!

Following with interest. I am sick of my heaving wardrobe where I can’t see anything and so wear the same thing every day!

A capsule wardrobe is my dream. I am a size 20

God I’m the same. I have easily got 20 pairs of jeans - I wear the same two pairs on rotation with an occasional foray into a red pair.

Everything I have that I love is falling to pieces. I need to clear out and will do that tomorrow - I’m determined to get at least a couple of bits at the weekend.

I have mostly shirt dresses, leggings and boots as a work wardrobe atm. Not a very small capsule but I just iron 5 dresses on Sunday and then it's all tights or leggings and I never wear cardigans or anything else.

At the weekend I have a couple of jersey tops from hush and a couple of jumpers I wear with jeans and trainers. I'm taller than you but my worst area is my lower tummy so I find it hard to get tops long enough.

Does Hush have any actual shops or is it all online? I really like a lot of their stuff.

Evans and M and S Both have sales on at the moment. You may be able to pick up some nice stuff there.

Just googled and found this article. It’s nice because not all the women are models, because I might be plus size but I’m not 6 foot and an 18!

What style is this jacket?! I want something similar, nice and drapey but one I can do up. Is this just an undone biker do you think?

I'm going to bite the bullet and order some stuff from Uniqlo for work. Hopefully I'm not too enormous for the trousers!

For work I wear H&M jersey dresses (with pockets!) - they sold out online but loads still in shops

I'm not a fan of skinny jeans, so have some bootcut jeggings from simply be, also some wide leg jeans also from there that have lasted well so far.

I have a thin jersey blazer that I bought from new look last year that I really like, but also a couple of fleece blazers from lands end which are a good compromise between jacket/cardigan

Long line vests for layering - Matalan is the place for these -£3 each I think, also primarni has long line T-shirt's in for a similar price

Watching for ideas on nice tops - I have none!

Placemarking - especially as I’m after ideas for the summer - I don’t wear skirts or dresses because of chaffing and also because I feel like a sack of potatoes. I need casual/smart stuff for work.

Hush has concessions in John Lewis. Not sure about actual shops.

After saying I wanted to go into actual shops, I spent £200 on uniqlo and £150 on Hush website, plus about £60 on the forever 21 site to collect on Saturday.

So now just that horrible wait to see if anything fits.

If I like it I’ll post it. I haven’t bought any jeans, just some chino type trousers, some rayon blouse/shirt things and having seen the other thread about comfy trousers I bought the Harem pants from Hush. I have a few old tops I’ll keep but I’m quietly excited to get rid of all the stuff I currently have.

@scrappydappydo I'm a size 14 and have always had the same chafing issue. Cycling shorts are your saviour. I wear them under maxi dresses more than shorter ones though in case the dress blows up 😂

I bought a capsule wardrobe recently as starting a new job with a smarter dress code. I went to Debenhams and used their personal shopper. It was awesome as I have zero style sense so the lass picked out some nice outfits. Anything I didn’t like or didn’t fit right was immediately discounted. I had great fun for the two hours and ended up with 3 tops 2 dresses a blazer trousers and a smart cardigan. I’m a 20 and awkwardly tall as well. You can book it through the Debenhams website. Oh and the personal shoppers aren’t on commission so there’s no pressure.

I’m not quite ready to share my updated wardrobe yet as I’m waiting for a couple of deliveries, but what I have so far is great.

I’m pleased to say that Uniqlo XXL trousers and XL tops fit an apple shaped 18/20 really well. The trousers in particular are really nice, they’ve got elastic waists which while a bit geriatric, actually works better than others. The legs are also not really wide and flappy, although not skin tight. They’re also only £7.90 in the sale!

I’m also wearing a shirt in the first time in years. Can’t comment on washing yet, but I deliberately bought this one as it’s a non-iron style.

with regards to the chaffing I used a tip I picked up on here last year & it worked - roll on deodorant ….

If you have massive boobs I really can’t recommend Rigby and Peller enough. A proper well fitting bra makes such a difference. I know there are other places like Bravissimo but if you’re really big ( I’m an H cup) Prima Donna Bras are life savers. It is spend but once you’ve been fitted properly once you can get them on eBay for less.

I used to be plus size. I found scarlett and joe tops good for big boobs, try looking at their site.

Sure I’m wearing these right now but I also bought black, wine and beige colours. And they’re £14.90 sorry the shirt is £7.90!

@Musmerian I have neither the time nor money for R&P unfortunately, but the Bravissimo satine style bra fits me perfectly. I’ve gone up again as well - now a 36 HH

This is me wearing the above linked trousers (they’re quite light fabric, so far the only downside is that they do crease a bit) and this shirt. As you can see I carry most of my weight in my belly. The shirt is lovely and hasn’t creased at all.

I promise I wore shoes to work though!

So I’ve been sitting here all evening thinking that the parcel I had waiting to be opened was from Bravissimo- it wasn’t, it was from Hush!

I bought those harem pants everyone raves about and they’re great. Size XL And size XL for the t shirt. I also bought another t-shirt but it’s crew neck and it’ll be going back. Also bought a Tara dress which I’m not sure of.
