Help me with shoes for Spring!

Every single year I don’t know what to wear on my feet between now and the end of May. For casual I’ve got grey suede Stan Smiths but for anything straying into smart casual I’m totally stuck.

I’m going to a daytime gathering at the weekend. Smart casual so I’m wearing skinny jeans with a printed linen T-shirt and a jacket (it’s nicer than it sounds...) BUT WHAT ABOUT MY FEET?! “Smarter” trainers? ballet flats? Kitten heels? Help!

i think i would wear a pair of TOMS

Not ballet flats. Lace up shoes, loafers, mules would all look good.

I feel like TOMS are too casual for this particular thing but could be a good spring shoe in general.

I looked at brogues, loafers etc but they’re like what I wear for work which put me off. I don’t really want to wear black leather but wonder if they’re a bit much in a colour?
