Talk to me about jumpsuits

Are they only for the tall and slim? Or, hypothetically, could a 5ft3 slightly overweight mid-forties woman wear one?
And, is the rule - only flat shoes with them?

Try some on and you might find one that suits! Smile

My sister has several, she looks great in them and she's about 5'4" and 30 (quite slim though).

As with most things, i think you need to try lots of them in until you find the right one for you. Quite often, it's the proportions that don't work eg where the waist sits and whether the legs are too long. You may find that a petite one fits better.

One of my colleagues was wearing a jump suit recently, she is a size 14ish and about 5'2 and I thought she looked great.

whitehalleve · 20/03/2019 20:27

I've seen curvy women in jumpsuits who looked great.

LandL3 · 20/03/2019 20:37

I'm fat and I love a jumpsuit

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/03/2019 20:39

I just wore one to a smart event recently. 1st ever time. Tried quite a few to find one and I wore it with high heels. (size 14, but reasonably tall)

Girlsnightin · 20/03/2019 21:34

I'm a curvy 14, 5 3. I find a jumpsuit with a wrap front or v neck with a bit of drape most flattering. I find them less mumsy than a dress.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 20/03/2019 21:37

I am a 16-18, 5 ft 6 and jumpsuits are my biggest love. Like I have at least a dozen Blush New Look is good for them.

Calzone · 20/03/2019 21:39

I’m 5ft 5, size 14 and love a jumpsuit.

Got both mine in M&S sale and get lots of compliments.

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 20/03/2019 21:47

Maybe I need a jumpsuit and not a dress! I refer you to my short fat dress thread! I’m heartened by this

LambChopsMcGee · 20/03/2019 21:54

When you need to pee... Do you have to take it all the way down? Does that cause issues?

I'm 5'10 so also worry about getting then long enough in the body... love the look though

MrsFogi · 20/03/2019 22:26

Thanks for all the answers - I was thinking of wearing (a smart) one to a wedding. I hadn't thought about going to the loo.....good to know when trying on.

Yes it has to go all the way down. I had 3 buttons on the neck and a zip from the lower back down to the bum. That was a bit of a pain....

Girlsnightin · 21/03/2019 07:54

Yes all gets pulled down, but don't let that put you off. I wore one for a wedding and got many compliments.

Calzone · 21/03/2019 09:53

I wore mine for a funeral and it was well received.

Insecure123 · 21/03/2019 11:05

Love them. I was always a bit "scared" of them for some unknown reason. then a bought one and now I have several. i find them so easy to wear. I wear them to go out out, out for dinner, to work etc etc I find them easy ot dress up or down depending on the occasion

MeadowHay · 21/03/2019 13:28

Anyone can wearing anything, wear whatever you like and feel comfortable in. They are definitely one of those items that you need to try on a few til one fits you 'right' though, they're all so different and sizing can be odd, it depends on all your proportions. I am 5'5 and a size 8 and I love a good jumpsuit, only have one in my repertoire atm which is from Laura Ashley but might get some more. I mostly wear thin-ish ones in the summer, they're great for days when I haven't shaved my legs Grin.

As for the loo thing, depends where you are. I wouldn't wear one if I was going to be somewhere with grotty/potentially grotty loos cos it can be a bit of a faff. A wedding in a nice venue, no problem.
