Are serums worth it? (And if so which one?)

Im sure this has been asked before, sorry. But are they worth it? Would it be worth me using one? I've had samples in the past and loved the feel of them. I have dry skin, mid 30s, no wrinkles yet but two young DS so always very tired looking! Thanks

QRx Labs Niacinimide and Retinol serum has been AMAZING for my sensitive spot prone skin, I love it.

HaventGotAllDay · 22/03/2019 06:02

Not tried much from the Ordinary but the slimy gloopy repulsive Hyaluronic and the gritty scratchy vitamin C was enough to put me off their products for life. Shame as cf many others their stuff is cheap!

cjpark · 22/03/2019 08:17

I use Youth Renewal Serum by Murad. It contains rentinol and has visibly cleared up some dark spots and sun damage.

Delatron · 22/03/2019 08:23

I agree about The Ordinary, the price point is great and people get results but the formulations aren’t particularly ‘elegant’.

Place marking for a good read after the school run. Skin looking knackered and I'm nearly 50.

DontFundHate · 24/03/2019 06:26

Thank you all again. I find the ordinary daunting I think! I'll look into it properly

I can’t share the brand. It’s so fantastic that I’m worried it will get too popular. I started using it a few weeks ago. Im 52 and someone ( a woman) thought I was the same age as her -38! Whaa! Never happened before.

Is the Nip + Fab No needle fix serum better than the Nip + Fab no needle fix moisturiser then? (which I just bought cheap in TK Maxx yesterday).

RikoBitch · 24/03/2019 07:06

I have been using serum all my life. Started pinching my mum's Estee Lauder when I was about 12 years old and I don't think a day in my life has gone by without using some serum. These days I like: Nip and Fab, Vichy, Lancome or any VitC from Tkmaxx.

I'm 49 and no wrinkles at all. My skin is my best feature. Shame about the rest 🙂

Nousernameforme · 24/03/2019 07:57

I've just picked up Nip + Fab no needle fix on the back of this thread I hope it helps it can't make it worse.

HelloToMyKitty · 24/03/2019 08:04

I like Obagi’s C serums (started with 5 percent) and really reduced pigmentation from old spots and freckling. I’m trying out the Ordinary version but it doesn’t work as well for me.

Probably the product that’s made the most difference for me

VanillaSugarr · 24/03/2019 08:06

Kiehls vitamin C

ihatethecold · 24/03/2019 10:31

what needs to be the feature of a serum for it to make a difference?

Milomonster · 24/03/2019 11:01

@decormad that’s the most bizarre comment I’ve read - you think that you’ll be affected if other people find out the brand you are using? [hmmConfused. The point of this thread is to be helpful to OP.

RebeccaCloud9 · 24/03/2019 11:08

The best thing I've ever used was the Bioeffect egf serum.

Honestly noticed a visible difference after a couple of days. Absolutely incredible. But eye wateringly expensive so I just can't buy it at the moment Sad

HaventGotAllDay · 24/03/2019 12:59

Nip and Fab is 50% off on Feel Unique at the mo' as well.
I have just bought the Vichy 89 serum which gets a lot of love on skincare threads. I love and repeat buy their Vit C so as this is a HA plumpy one I should look 22 again soon. Grin
