Dress for short and big tummy

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 19/03/2019 21:43

I have listed before and bought a lace shift thing which is beautiful but on me the belly is gross. Any tummy skimming or disguising dress or outfit ideas for a hen party where the hen is beautiful and willowy and I look like the auntie they invited along??
I’m short and like a skittle but with a massive gut. I did wonder about pretending I was pregnant and embracing the belly but couldn’t carry it on and it would hamper my cocktail drinking!

2 and 3 both great dresses but 2 is fabulous at minimising tum - that's the one I'd buy! (I have a horrendous tummy and always wish it would magically disappear!) I think 1 is a bit grannyish, sorry.

Hellywelly10 · 20/03/2019 23:20

Love no 3 shows off your great arms and legs like the v neck on you and it makes a change from black. Where is it from i want it!

PaulineK32 · 20/03/2019 23:23

Accessorize. I always wear a big chucky beaded necklace to draw attention up away from my belly.

PaulineK32 · 20/03/2019 23:23

Oh an i think you look great in pic 3.

Girlsnightin · 21/03/2019 07:57

Or try a jumpsuit Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 21/03/2019 07:59

Definitely No. 3 with 2 at a push.

Stormyday · 21/03/2019 08:02

I think the shape of no 1 is the most flattering but it’s a bit old fashioned. They all are a bit.

Can you wear the dress from your original picture?

Your belly is nowhere near as you describe!

Gwenhwyfar · 21/03/2019 08:05

2 is the best. I suspect top and skirt suits you better than a dress. I find that a black dress with tights can take a stone off in appearance and really keep everything in.

Gwenhwyfar · 21/03/2019 08:06

Yes, I liked the original dress too.

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 21/03/2019 08:09

Pic 3 was £8 from Dorothy Perkins! It’s snug but I think fits better than 2 but I like the tummy shrinking of number 2. I’ve a petite version of number 2 on order but it is delayed. Think if that arrives it might be better but may keep 3 anyway - what shoes with each??!

No.2 and no3 look fantastic.
Pair of heels and a largish necklace and you're good to go. Have a good night.

Calzone · 21/03/2019 08:18

I think you can do better......

The wrap dresses from Next look younger and fresher.

Your dresses are very ageing.

How old are you?

sashh · 21/03/2019 08:24

I think 3 is most flattering.

Does it have to be black? Most of my clothes are black but I think the third pic with a bit of colour added would be good.

If you stick with the black then a long floaty scarf hanging down the middle will add colour and take the eyes away from your tum.

Fab legs on display, definitely show them off.

Pinkkahori · 21/03/2019 08:43

I'm a similar shape and also short. I'd usually go with something like pic. 3 but i really like 2 on you. Where is it from?

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 21/03/2019 09:05

I’m mid 40s and have no desire to look granny- ish! The next dress isn’t available my size but I do like it!! Fresher sounds good too. I do feel the black lace is nice but maybe too old for me - on a young person would look sophisticated but on me it looks a bit...nothing
Maybe I go back to the green but with black tights?

Calzone · 21/03/2019 09:52

Move away from black and go for something brighter.

Make sure your underwear fits properly and get your hair and eyebrows done.
Bright lipstick.

No one will even really care what you are wearing but you need to feel good for yourself.

Stormyday · 21/03/2019 10:06

Which is the green?

babysharkah · 21/03/2019 10:22

1st one does nothing for you at all. 2 is nice but 3 better!

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 21/03/2019 16:52

I really like the Next wrap dress but don't think it's dressy enough. It's more of a summery dress.

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 21/03/2019 20:04

Here’s something that will make you laugh. The purple/ black number 3 is actually 2 sizes too small so that’s why it’s a snug stretchy thing on me. It should be one if those loose boxy shifts GrinGrinConfused
I thought it was snug. No way it’s the labelled size though much as I’d like it to be.
Makes sense why it was in the sale now for so cheap a price

applesarerroundandshiny · 21/03/2019 21:57

No contest - dress no 3 looks 10 x better than the other two - so flattering - you look about 2 dress sizes smaller. It's also more versatile .

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 24/03/2019 09:05

I went dress 3 and based on what was worn here in Liverpool I could’ve worn anything. Including separates. My favourite I saw was leopard shorts and black fringed top. She looked amazing. Plenty more skirt/ tops too. I’m returning dress 2 unless my mum wants it!! For £8 the purple one was a steal. I didn’t feel great but definitely good enough. Thank you all for the advice

3 looks great
