I need a dress...for MY party....this weekend! HELP!

It's mine and my husband's 40th birthday party this weekend and I have NOTHING to wear. Nor have I lost all of the baby weight I swore to myself I would! I have just tried my old dresses on but none of them will do up around my rib cage. Is this a thing? Massive ribs after having a baby...?!

Anyway, any tall, curvy girls bought a lovely dress recently they can recommend? Or anyone fancy styling me? Pretty please?!

I am 5' 11'', a size 16/18 with a wobbly mum tum that I would prefer to hide. Dresses that suit me best are tight under the busy and then a line, skimming over the tummy, rather than tight around the waist. Just above or below the knee rather than long or super short!

Thank yoooooou....'

I'm a 14 and my go to brand for special events is Frock and Frill. ASOS do stock them but I've just had a look and they've got a pretty poor selection on there at the mo so I'd go to the main website.

The dresses aren't cheap but they feel very expensive, hang beautifully on curves and I always feel amazing in them!

Thank you! I've never heard of them. Googling now.....

They look lovely, but seem to miss out sizes 18 and 20 and I think I'm an 18 at the moment....

I had a big do last year and I got a dress from Scarlett & Jo - they have lots of choice on their website and describe the height & size of models. The dress fits really well - it’s made to accommodate curves. Found I was a size smaller than usual though.

I’ve had a bit of luck with ASOS curve buying dresses for weddings but I had to order loads and send back the ones I didn’t like.

John Lewis is worth a peek.

Lady V London, Lindy bop, ASOS are all my go to's for party dresses. I'm plus size and find these generally true to size :)

Another vote for Scarlett and Jo here - their Marilyn dresses are perfect for parties

I'm 5'9 and a 16 and have just bought this bargain - it's a lot nicer and thicker fabric than it looks and is very flattering around the tummy. I'm wearing it to a couple of weddings this year.

@dancingqueen345 Thanks for the recommendation, FrockandFrill look fab value.

I saw this on a size 14/5'10 instagrammer. It looked stunning
I haven't tried it myself but it's got good reviews

@Alwayscheerful no probs! Best thing is, once I'd ordered one full price and was sold on the quality every other one I've ordered has been second hand from eBay because I felt like I could trust the cut etc.

Studio eight have lots of dresses the shape you describe

Betty777 · 19/03/2019 21:09

Oliver Bonas? I'm a similar size and their clothes usually come up really big, so a 16 should be fine
