Does bag colour matter?

Looking for a new everyday bag. Current is a simple black/grey striped design. Does it actually matter? I mean, do you pick a bag colour thinking that it can go with everything you wear or do you choose a colour you like?
I have:
an anthracite winter coat
Teal raincoat
Purple summer jacket
Black soft-shell
Khaki long length jacket

I'd get navy (or a different blue) to go with those.

I choose a colour that I like but I change my bag depending on what I'm wearing. My only real 'everyday' bags are my gym bag and my work bag. Outside of work, my bag varies pretty much on a daily basis.

Sounds like a black/grey striped bag would work with the coats you've listed anyway OP. Life's too short, just go for it.

Black is safe. Not keen on grey.
Unless you see a bag in a colour you love and are prepared to dress to not clash with it.

I’d go with grey for those colours. Black is a bit harsh - I don’t tend to wear as much black in summer.

Have you thought about tan/oak?
