OPI Nail Envy - help!

In desperation I spent £18 on some Nail Envy, the one for peeling nails. I've followed the instructions but it just seems to crack and come off. I'm tempted to add some Seche Vite but that will mean I can't add a new layer every two days. My nails really need this - help!

Incidently they had a guide on using it for "a perfect manicure". But for that you put the nail envy on top of a base coat, how's that meant to work???

How many coats are you applying on a bare nail? Do you use your hands a lot for daily tasks?

according · 17/03/2019 18:54

I always apply a top coat (of colour) over Nail Envy. I can't imagine it having much holding power on its own. Unless you apply a top up coat of it each day.

funkylittleboatrace · 17/03/2019 19:03

Did you buff ?

Palominoo · 17/03/2019 19:08

I've stopped using nail strengtheners etc and just dab on a teeny tiny amount of vaseline on each nail at bedtime..a quick rub in and you will feel the difference the next day. In one week your nails will be strong but supple.

Binglebong · 17/03/2019 19:11

Didn't buff but my nails were clean (and no soap on them!).

2 layers as instructed, ready for extra coat every two days. Although a complete shattered looking mess before the end of day one.

I do use my hands a lot but hadn't between applying and being annoyed.

If I'm to add another layer every two days I can't put something pretty on top. But without doing so it just comes off!Sad

I apply two coats on a Sunday then a single coat Tues,Thurs and Sat. Clean it all off on a Sunday and start again for the week. It does work. No need for polish if you don't want to.

So you put the extra costs on top of the coloured polish? I just don't understand how it is meant to help the nail if there is something between them.

I do the same as Maiden but mine is clear or light pink (I have both) I didn't know they made other shades

Binglebong · 17/03/2019 21:13

Mine is just clear. But I don't get how it is thick enough to stay until you put the next coat on- it's just a cracked glaze. I'll try thicker coats. Feels very unnatural!

Sorry I've managed to confuse the issue. I'd painted them for a night out.
My opi is clear. I'd put the polish over the top of the opi.

I've never had it crack or anything.

Did you buy it from eBay?

Binglebong · 17/03/2019 22:26

Came from boots.so it should be legit.

These are the instruction - it just makes no sense to me that there can be a layer between the strengthened and your nails and it still work, as in the manicure option.
