I need a hat or fascinator

To go with this dress! I was thinking a peach or pinky colour. Can anyone recommend where to get one from? I've had a look on eBay but not sure on the colour. My hair is dark brown.

M&S and John Lewis are good for fascinators once the wedding season starts. But do you have a local market, some of my best buys have been from local independent retailers. Where are you geographically?

BoudicasBoudoir · 16/03/2019 19:18

Not a fascinator. Something big.

I'm on the outskirts of London and Kent and work in central London.

@BoudicasBoudoir ooh not sure I'm brave enough for something that large!

I like that! But do you think it might be too much navy?

I had the same colour/patterned dress and found the right shade of dusky coral in Claire's strangely.

Winenotttea · 16/03/2019 20:16

Hi, what is the occasion? That may dictate whether a navy hat would be too ‘heavy’

ohbutyoulovescarves · 16/03/2019 20:17

It's for a wedding

For a wedding, navy may be too much but for the races the John Lewis navy hat would be perfect!

Winenotttea · 16/03/2019 20:18

Hmmm, will do some googling! The dress is gorgeous by the way

Ninkaninus · 16/03/2019 20:20

Claire’s, Accessorize, Monsoon.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 16/03/2019 20:20

The hat Boudicca linked is perfect. Be brave, be bold! I wore this hat to a wedding last summer and honestly, once I got over the initial gulp here goes moment, I felt fabulous. And I am a good 20 years older than the model.

I think you need a big hat to balance the hem. Small hat won't look right.

Thank you! I was thinking something like this but I'm hopeless at picking the right colours out in things.

I don't think so! Navy fascinator, pink/coral shoes and clutch, good to go.

@Bananasarenottheonlyfruit and @BoudicasBoudoir I've just ordered the navy hat from JL to see what it'll look like!

ohbutyoulovescarves · 16/03/2019 20:26

I love the accessorize one! The postman is going to wonder what on earth I'm up to

Ninkaninus · 16/03/2019 20:27

Ohhhh I love the beautiful big hats, and I agree, go big to balance out that gorgeous skirt.

You’ll look a million dollars!

horsinaround · 16/03/2019 20:28

Glad you've ordered the hat. You need something to balance the dress - think something pale/ fascinating will look to fussy - a large navy hat with pale shoes will be perfect

emilybrontescorsett · 16/03/2019 20:31

I agree go big!

Bayleyf · 16/03/2019 22:42

Yes go for the big hat!! Love a hat.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 17/03/2019 12:02

I've just ordered a fascinator from here. Her reviews are great and she's making it in a colour to match my dress:

I disagree that big dress needs big hat personally. I think a fitted dress needs a big hat but I'd go fascinator with your dress. I agree that it needs to not be too delicate though or it will be lost. Something from the seller I linked above in either navy or pink would be fab though.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 17/03/2019 12:03

Green would be another option. I think that would be fab. Maybe:
