Too much black?

Evening out, first one in 8 years Shock and not sure what to wear. I have a black dress, black boots, black leggings. Is a black cardigan overkill? I have black, navy, white, beige (but not sure the style fits) or a long length darkish grey one.

I don't think you could really add a"pop" is colour with that outfit. You'll need to go for it and so great hair and make-up! Venn look v sophisticated!

insancerre · 16/03/2019 13:23

You don’t need a cardigan on a night out!

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 13:26

Of course I do, else I'll freeze!

No such thing as too much black!

Widowodiw · 16/03/2019 13:48

I’d loose the leggings personally - that’s a little naff nowadays under a dress. Misses point of the thread!

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 13:49

Ummm, then what am I supposed to wear on my legs?

OP posts:
Charley50 · 16/03/2019 13:54

Tights!

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 13:57

I never wear tights because they give me stinky feet. It's far more comfy to wear leggings and socks. And as I'll be wearing boots, who could possible tell the difference?

Just go for the outfit you have selected. All black is fine and you can always add some interest with jewellery

Luckingfovely · 16/03/2019 14:03

I don't think you actually want any advice, do you?

Heismyopendoor · 16/03/2019 14:03

We need to see a picture :D

Quintella · 16/03/2019 14:06

First night out in 8 years! Wowzers Shock

I'd definitely stick with all black. Much better than adding an apologetic grey or beige cardie to the mix.

Enjoy your night, hope you don't have to wait so long until your next one.

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 14:13

this is the closest, but has sleeves.

Cardigan www.next.co.uk/g7240s9#542953 in black and in navy. White one is H&M but not much different tbh.

I can always tell the difference between tights and leggings. I wouldn’t wear leggings for a night out. Get some black opaques - primark £2 ones are fab. I really like the dress, it’s lovely. I’d defo wear it with leggings during the daytime/summer though.

Heismyopendoor · 16/03/2019 15:10

Personally I wouldn’t wear the boots with a dress like that. The boots look more casual and the dress dressier, I don’t think they would team well together.

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 15:18

Hmmm, ok. I have black shoes. But no tights. Or ankle boots.

OP posts:
Shimy · 16/03/2019 15:18

OP you cannot possibly wear those boots with that dress.

gubbsywubbsy · 16/03/2019 15:21

Leggings are horrible under dresses , should def be tights and more ankle boots than those boots 😬

Heismyopendoor · 16/03/2019 15:30

You can get tights very cheap from Primark. What are your shoes like? :)

Bigonesmallone3 · 16/03/2019 15:36

Do not wear leggings..
A think black tight will break it up with shoes/small ankle boot..

NotComingBackAnytimeSoon · 16/03/2019 15:36

Boots.

Can't go to shop!

I used to visit my aunt in New York fairly often. The local deli owner told me I could easily be mistaken for a New Yorker because I wore black. I still mostly wear black, and it looks even better now my hair is entirely grey...unless it washes you out, black always works.

OP hasn't been out in 8 years!
