Please help with my skin!

Hi!

Any help gratefully appreciated as at a loss.

I’m in my twenties and I’ve always had really good skin - never had to worry about it too much. I’ve never worn make up on my skin and just washed my face twice a day with Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I use a cheap Nivea moisturiser sparingly.

I started to notice these little bumps on my skin about 9 months ago. They weren’t too noticeable then but I was in Lush one day and mentioned them to a girl who worked there. She asked me if I use a spf moisturiser (Nivea one is spf 15) and I said yes; she told me that the bumps were from stuff trapped under the skin as I could not sweat through the spf. I stopped using it at night (just as a daytime moisturiser) and she gave me a exfoliater to use which I’ve been using 1-2 times per week.

The last two months the bumps have gotten much bigger and more noticeable (to me, anyway). In some lights you can’t see them at all but in other lights you can see how uneven the skin surface is. When I get hot/flustered/blush they’re much more obvious (see pics).

They’re not sore and can’t be squeezed. They just feel like my normal skin but bumpy. Sometimes they feel a bit dry.

Any ideas? As you can probably tell, I’m clueless about skincare. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

How's it going?

jacquettalux · 23/03/2019 18:07

@Malope I'm following the advice upthread and using the acid toner from Aldi. So far I don't see much difference but it's early days I suppose! Like I said, in some lights it's hard to see at all and in others it looks awful. Today I thought it looked worse than ever (see pic) 🙈 But I'm persevering. How long should I try before I expect to see results? It's only been a week, using it every other day.

I wonder if it looks less red?

SirVixofVixHall · 23/03/2019 18:25

It does look like KP there. Ameliorate lotion works well.

Dalesgirl16 · 23/03/2019 19:45

@SirVixofVixHall do you mean ameliorate body lotion to use on face?

SirVixofVixHall · 23/03/2019 19:56

Yes. On cheeks. They don’t seem to make a separate face version. Works on my dd’s KP , but she gets red if she uses it more than once a day.

jacquettalux · 23/03/2019 20:53

@SirVixofVixHall Yes, that's definitely a possibility. I'm struggling to determine whether it's KP or closed comedones? I'm using glycolic acid to treat the latter, would that help or hinder KP?

Possibly help KP I imagine ? Yesterday my daughter tried a mask of mine from Beauty Pie, the Fruitizyme 5 minute facial, and it made a big difference to her KP on her cheeks. Her face was much smoother and softer afterwards. It is a great product if you know anyone with a subscription.
