If you are the body shape/size/height of me which style of jeans look best on you?

Straight, skinny, boot, flare, wide, cropped.

Dark, light, colour.

High waist, mid rise (low is out for me)

Lot of stretch, full on denim

Particular brands that work for you.

I need new jeans. I want to try them on at home and want to give myself as less stress as possible so looking for 5 - 10 pairs I can order.

I'm pretty much the same shape and size as you and always wear relaxed boot cut jeans, they look so much better than any other shape. I usually get them in black or dark blue and wear a brighter, more interesting top or teashirt and jacket.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 15/03/2019 11:57

Any particular brand you like madcat?

Did I write this myself? Same exact dimensions. Have almost given up (it's Spring though, we can start wearing dresses and shelve the problem for 6 months...?)

Most successful ever were Levis Demi curve (discontinued) and at the moment I am making do with some Boden black ones www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-jeans/t0122-blk/womens-black-trafalgar-straight-leg-jeans?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuLndp9KG4QIV7pPtCh1K0wSUEAQYASABEgK0h_D_BwE&istCompanyId=a40e1fa1-0635-4a1b-8d9a-2caa763eeee2&istItemId=-xxaqmmpqaa&istBid=tztx&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIuLndp9KG4QIV7pPtCh1K0wSUEAQYASABEgK0h_D_BwE:G:s&cm_mmc=PLA--GoogleNMPICSS1585740205--60124337176-_-40061715

but dying to know if you find a solution (sorry, not very helpful)

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 16/03/2019 12:44

Twins!Betty

I've ordered some from Sainsburys so will keep you posted.

Currently wearing a uniqlo pair that I got last year in desperation. They're a 32 and fit well but I don't like the way they look, they're turn ups and shorten my legs too much. Maybe I should order a few different styles from Uniqlo.

I'm hourglass shaped but small at 5ft. I asked about jeans too on another forum and everybody yelled get NYDJ they're terrific. I got them and hated them on sight, even before I found I could hardly get into them and looked like a strangled peanut when I did. Sent back the next day :(

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 16/03/2019 12:45

Oh and btw my actual waiat measures much more than 32 inches so fuck knows how that works. This is part of the problem with jeans. I have to try on millions of pairs.

leafinthewind · 16/03/2019 12:48

GAP Curvy in a 32 or 33 regular. I'm an inch shorter than you, but they're a little bit long on me. My bootcuts (now discontinued sadly) are 33, and my skinnies are 32, oddly.

WinterHeatWave · 16/03/2019 12:50

I'm currently on Next bootlegs, with a reasonably high waist. Some bum lift and slim nonsense, but go over my thighs, and dont gape too much at the top. Having tried on 1001 pairs, I tend to just ho back to he t now...

Straight or bootlegs, darkish.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 16/03/2019 16:07

I might order some of the curvy Gap ones Leaf I used to wear their Long and Lean eons ago when I was slender and rated them very much.

Winter I haven't tried Next for a while, they were my go to about 5 years ago but the last few pairs I tried on a couple of years ago did nothing for me, though that could just be the general increase in my girth.

Reporting back on the Tu Sainsbury's jeans. I ordered the girlfriend jeans in a 16 and 18. The 18s looked fine on the thigh but massive waist. The 16s were great on the waist and bum but too 'figure hugging' on the thigh for the style and looked wrong. The denim was very stretchy and I think they'd lose shape really quick.

I ordered girlfriend as thought they'd make me look slimmer. They didn't.

If I try any others I'll come back and let you know what I think.

Saw another thread about Levie wedgie jeans. Why no dull length versions though? Chubby legs need length!

OP posts:
SlinkyDinkyDoo · 20/03/2019 19:52

Full length! Dull?

OP posts:
VanGoghsDog · 20/03/2019 21:40

I have Uniqlo turn up jeans. I just unturned them so they're normal length. Looks fine.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 20/03/2019 21:43

I tried that with the Sainsbury jeans but the shape was all wrong - too wide at the top compared to the bottom.

OP posts:
SlinkyDinkyDoo · 20/03/2019 21:43

Or maybe that's just my carrot legs.

OP posts:
Takeitonthechin · 20/03/2019 22:02

Have you tried Mansaray bootcut jeans from Debenhams, they are really comfortable

VanGoghsDog · 20/03/2019 22:03

Try it with the Uniqlo ones.

Binglebong · 20/03/2019 22:10

I tend to end up in matalan Jean's. Don't keep shape brilliantly (but I do work them hard!) but they are cheap. I get bootcut as they are the only ones that go over my trunks calves.

ChoccyBiccyTastic · 20/03/2019 22:11

Different size but same shape and height.

I like Next Slim and Fit (Lift & Slim?) in straight leg or boot cut but for our height, you have to buy the tall or long sizes. The denim leggings can also be ok. I find other fits gape at the waist or are so tight, they won't pass my calves!

YesQueen · 20/03/2019 22:38

Next hyper curve have been my latest purchase and fit well

DuchessDumbarton · 20/03/2019 22:48

Expensive, but the Salsa brand jeans?

I'm a 5'7" hourglass, currently 12stone2lbs, so very ahem curvy. Large in booty and thigh (sadly, too old for the Kardashian effect to make this seem attractive).

Bought a pair of these last autumn, dark wash, skinnies.
I've never before had a pair of jeans that were just comfy but these are- they don't ride up, there are no hard seams digging in, they're fine to sit for a long commute, or walking around town getting errands done at the weekend etc etc.

I've done Next, Dorothy P, Gap, M&S jeans....nothing as good as these.

Am already saving for the replacment pair.
Worth a try?

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 20/03/2019 23:00

Where do you get Salsa jeans from Duchess? Mind you I'm nearly a sone and a half heavier than you so the effect might not be the same.

Might try Next tomorrow.

OP posts:
professionalnomad · 21/03/2019 07:25

I'm the same shape as you. I like the Dorothy Perkins skinny high rise jeans and Marks and Spencer sculpt and lift

mummmy2017 · 21/03/2019 07:29

Matalan with stretch are fab. £15 or under a pair.

DuchessDumbarton · 21/03/2019 08:43

Slinky
Mine are these ones- I think mine are a 30" waist.

these ones
