Does anyone have a natural skin care routine?

I've recently been neglecting my skin and it's starting to show. My skin, especially on my face, feels lifeless, dull and dry. I just feel haggard at the ripe old age of 31. I have a 2 year old boy and am pregnant again so haven't been looking after myself much but I'm fed up of feeling so tired-looking.

I'd like to start a skincare regime again, but would prefer to avoid lots of skin care products due to chemicals (and price!) Plus I have sensitive skin.

I make my own sugar scrub exfoliator and use coconut oil to shave my legs. Does anyone here have a more natural skin care routine? Care to share?

Stuff like coconut oil/olive oil, Honey, Apple cider vinegar and so on. Thanks :)

I don't use coconut oil to clean my face as it gives me spots. I use Camillia oil to remove eye make up, Argan oil or rosehip oil to moisturise and Pacifica sensitive facial wash.

Off on a bit of a tangent here, but if you’re into podcasts at all you could check out Forever35 - there’s one episode with Courtney Chiusano I think that covers some good natural face ideas - yoghurt and kombucha and stuff - but also more generally it might be a good thing if you just feel like taking more care of yourself - they started out being a lot about skincare products but now mostly just a very broad chat about all sorts of things that fall under ‘self-care’.

The hosts’ enthusiasm for skin care and serum led me to try a LoveLula beauty box for a couple of months - they send you a selection of so-called ‘natural’ beauty/skincare samples each month. I tried it all, figured out serums and fancy facial washes aren’t really for me and didn’t seem to make much of a difference to my skin anyway, BUT I did appreciate just making time to mess around and make time for this stuff.

So now just make sure to make time to wash face with hot water and soap every day (soap works for me; I know not everyone likes it.) and occasionally I moisturise with rosehip oil, which was the one beauty box product I did like.

I swipe a cotton pad with pure witch hazel over my spot prone chin every night before bed. Helped my pregnancy acne no end.

A few things I've done recently:

1tbsp bicarb 4-6tbsp corn flour 2-3tbsp coconut oil Few drops essential oil

I use the oil cleansing method, I use coconut oil but I know lots of others don’t like it as it can cause spots. Experiment to see which oil is best for your skin. I also make a toner with ACV and distilled water, then finish with a tiny bit of (currently) sunflower oil as a moisturiser. Also use an ACV rinse on my hair 2/3x week.

I use almond oil to remove makeup and I moisturise with Argan oil. Currently I use a face wash after removing makeup but would be very interested in any ideas or recipes for a natural face wash/scrub.

@LipstickForADogwalk what is AVC please?

There is a small company called Evolve Beauty which makes almost 100% organic face stuff. it's gorgeous. I have the chocolate face mask and the facial oil.
They sell via John Lewis but also on their own website and you get samples with every order.

Online address is as above with co.uk

Have a look at Lucy Bee online/ on Instagram, coconut oil based. New skincare range but also lots of DIY recipes. I’ve only tried the face exfoliator so far but it’s really lovely

Please don't sugar scrub your face! you are damaging your skin and will absolutely get thread veins from doing it. Sugar scrub is for the body. Many a derm or skincare expert has told me to never scrub with anything more abrasive then a flanel Smile
