Bit of background, I’m looking for a dress to wear to a few weddings this year. I always end up wearing the same dress (choice of 2) that I’ve had for over 10 years. I really fancy something new and I’ve seen this dress.
My DH says it looks tacky, but I thought it looked really unique and classic. What are thoughts? It’s a far whack of money so I don’t want to regret it. Honest opinions welcome 😃 Dress links below.

Nope I’m not feeling the stars and the moon?! And for that price you need more of a “classic” design so you can pull it out year after year.

OutofDepth1000 · 10/03/2019 08:52

😃 Thank you, that’s exactly what DH said! I like the stars and moon, but tend to like something like that and never brave enough to wear it.

No I'm afraid I don't like it, especially for a wedding. It's not classy or dressy enough. I really don't like the stars!

sparklefarts · 10/03/2019 08:58

No, sorry. The stars make it look a lot cheaper than it is

Normandy144 · 10/03/2019 09:02

That's a lot of money for a not particularly nice dress. Sorry. I think the colour red and the strange combination of moon and stars is just not very complimentary. It doesn't scream wedding either. If that's your budget then you can definitely find something nicer.

Moanymoaner123 · 10/03/2019 09:05

Rixo is such amazing quality, I have a dress and skirt from there. They have some more subtle floral/star print dresses that would be perfect for weddings, I do think that one is a bit too flash for a wedding though, unless you're only an evening guest.

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/03/2019 09:06

I like the colour of the dress but the stars and moon look very cheesy. It's a no from me.

rightreckoner · 10/03/2019 09:08

I have that dress. It looks amazing on, if I say so myselfGrin I have to wear a red camisole underneath as it is very plunging and I’m quite booby so it’s a bit too much of an eyeful. I don’t think the pic is great and I wouldn’t have bought it because of the stars and the moons if I’d seen it on the website but I went to the pop up shop and tried it there.

Eatmycheese · 10/03/2019 09:10

She looks like an upmarket fortune teller

countdowntonap · 10/03/2019 09:12

I think it’s gorgeous - and now want to buy everything from the website! Does it fit in with your usual style?

OldGrinch · 10/03/2019 09:13

Sorry OP I don't like it at all. Can't believe they want that much money for it Shock

SummerHouse · 10/03/2019 09:16

upmarket fortune teller Grin
You could do this as a sideline at weddings!
You would make a fortune Grin
Your DP sounds quite helpful.

Walkmehome · 10/03/2019 09:18

It depends on your style but I wouldn’t wear it.

BlueMerchant · 10/03/2019 09:20

It's not something you can change the look of with different accessories etc. It very much a statement in itself and after the first wedding I'd likely be sick of it. I'd definitely go for something more versatile. You'll also be labelled 'The women in the moon dress' by strangers. It's a little OTT. Don't like the length or 'float' at bottom.

Duvetdweller · 10/03/2019 09:21

I don’t like Rixo dresses - they feel like poor quality to me, the last one I tried wasn’t even lined! Think the blouses are nice. Also if someone has the same dress it’s so obvious - our local boutique has stopped selling it for that reason

mynameiscalypso · 10/03/2019 09:21

I like it apart from the moon for some reason. It just looks a bit odd.

Hollowvictory · 10/03/2019 09:22

It's a bit gypsy rose Lee. Do they have anything without moon and stars

OutofDepth1000 · 10/03/2019 09:24

Thank you everyone 👍🏼 I like the tip of doing some fortune telling in the side at wedding, that could then pay for the dress 😆. I’m pursuaded to look for something more subtle......

I may go for this one, it’s selling at a small boutique shop for quarter of the price 👍🏼

Have a look at the dresses on the website Hope & Ivy. I’m also looking for a dress for a wedding and there are some beautiful ones on there x

OutofDepth1000 · 10/03/2019 09:41

Thank you, I hadn’t heard of Hope and Ivy before, it’s lovely 🙏🏻

I think this dress would look better on. If I saw someone wearing it at a wedding, I'd love it. Agree doesn't look great on the website

Ellapaella · 10/03/2019 10:28

I love both dresses Op although not keen on the moon on the red dress and it would be better without quite so many stars.

AprilSpring · 10/03/2019 10:52

I love it actually! But not £300 worth of love I’m afraid.
Not a fan of the other dress.

Seeing as you have the budget I think this is great
www.rixo.co.uk/product/bonnie-english-floral-black/
If it’s red you want this is lovely too
www.rixo.co.uk/product/noleen-diana-floral/ And a bit more timeless imo for an investment piece to be pulled out your wardrobe for special occasions,

But if you don’t like floral you should probably ignore me.

OutofDepth1000 · 10/03/2019 12:46

It’s not that I do or don’t like floral, it’s more that I want to try something different. Feel I’ve become stuck in style rut and often see others and wish I could be a bit more adventurous, but in a classic way. I’m 5ft 8 and size 10, 32D and 29 inch waist (though hoping to tone up a bit before wedding). Any tips/ideas welcome 👍🏼👍🏼
