Buying Next from abroad (code?)

Hi,
Not in the UK, I've identified that I can buy from Marks and Spencer and Next but I'm wondering what the quality is like between the two (especially for kids clothing). I can't seem to find discount codes for Next, do they do them?
Thanks a lot!

I buy from the au sites for both. Quality and sizing can be hit and miss, for both but I have bought nice kids bits and pieces and some branded stuff like Mint Velvet. Next never have a code as far as I've seen. M& S often do the 20% discounts. The biggest issue is that returns and refunds take forever and I can usually get what I want in stores here.

I have purchased from both (based in Australia). Mostly from M&S where half the stuff probably gets returned. They have a local address for returns, so not much of a faff to get the money refunded. I've only purchased from Next once or twice... some stuff OK, some rubbish (crappy fabrics etc).

Read the details on fabrics, size measurements carefully!

Local returns are definitely a bonus but don't you find it takes 3+ weeks for them to process refunds @chatwoo?

NakedAvenger · 10/03/2019 05:28

M&S stopped local returns last year. I was fuming. £100 worth of clothes to return (kept £100 worth) due to horrible fabrics and bad cuts. They stoped it in between me ordering and receiving the delivery. Ended up keeping them as the NZ to Uk postage would have been $59.
I emailed them to express disappointment. They basically said I should suck it up. I said I wouldn't shop with them again. They responded saying 'oh sorry you feel like that... bye'

BlackCatSleeping · 10/03/2019 05:28

I don't know where you live but Next do free delivery with quite a low purchase price. M&S has a much higher threshold for free delivery, so I usually end up paying for delivery.

I've found the quality of Next stuff is getting worse and worse, the last pair of jeans I bought from them only lasted 3 months. M&S is a bit more expensive but better quality, I think.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 10/03/2019 05:49

Are the m&s/next clothes ordered in Australia not made in the same factories as UK based orders? Or is it just generally that ordering online can be problematic with regards to quality/sizing no matter where you are?

Elllllle · 10/03/2019 07:09

I'd assume all from the same factories. But OP might not be aus based and/or maybe hasn't purchased either of the brands in the UK before.

BirdsAndBlips · 10/03/2019 07:34

Thanks for your guidance, I have bought both before and generally find Next clothes' quality much worst than M&S but if they had promo codes that would almost be worth it, you're confirming what I thought.

Oh and I shop from EU sites and clothes generally come with £ labels (and I work out that it would have been cheaper back home and it's infuriating - Boden is the worst)

I live in Asia so I find the clothes to be a lot cheaper than in the UK due to no VAT. I just have to be careful to keep the order under about 100 pounds or I have to pay import duty.

chatwoo · 10/03/2019 08:20

@Elllllle yes, they do seem to take their time! Others (Woolovers most recently) were pretty quick.

TSSDNCOP · 10/03/2019 09:47

I have never seen Next do promos.

M&S were 15% off this weekend. If you register online with their otherwise pointless Sparks card they send you discount motives.
