Disappointed in Mulberry Bayswater bag!

As a special gift for my birthday, I purchased a small Mulberry Bayswater bag at Stansted Airport. I noticed on using it that one of the side pouches was sticking out further than the other, so I was constantly poking it in! I sent it back via the repairs service, who said they could find nothing wrong with it.

I then complained to Customer Services, and the bag was sent to Head of Quality. Today I have heard that they can still find nothing wrong!

This has been going on since December, and regardless of Mulberry's argument that all the measurements are correct, when I use the bag, both sides are not equal!

I wonder now if Stansted Airport sells 'seconds.'
Really upset that a one off, very special purchase from such a well-known brand, has really disappointed!
Buyer beware!

How did you pay? If on a credit card you can raise a dispute/charge back.

Housewife2010 · 12/03/2019 21:50

PP has a very good point. If you spend over £100 on a credit card your purchases are protected. Jigsaw once wouldn't refund me on a damaged skirt so I got a full refund from Barclaycard.

I still think you should write to the CEO of Mulberry though. It is a fault with their product.

BoomTish · 12/03/2019 22:01

I must be dim but I can’t see what the problem is.

I have the large Bayswater and sometimes I have the sides in, and sometimes I have both out.

Is that not the point of them? I thought it was so you could have them either way?

sunflower129 · 12/03/2019 22:54

I have checked and I paid with a debit card!
The sides of the bag will not stay in the same position at the same time, so I am constantly poking one of them. If I can get them both to stay out (or in!) it will be a result.

Ah, I get you now.

I just threw mine about a bit conducted some scientific research and both sides of mine stay in, unless pulled out.

I will try the same tactic! 😊

How did you get on with the bag - is it sorted?

sunflower129 · 27/12/2019 22:01

Just an update to say it took 6 months, but my persistence paid off! Followed some suggestions from posts - wrote to CEO, sent bag back twice, and finally I received a gift token to the value of the bag! Brilliant! So glad I did not give up! Thanks to all who responded!

Hurrah! Excellent news!

64sNewName · 27/12/2019 22:11

Good result!

Snog · 27/12/2019 22:12

Got there in the end!
What are you spending your gift token on?

ShirleyPhallus · 27/12/2019 22:19

Great stuff. What are you buying instead? I love the colour of the original one

TrueCrimeFan · 28/12/2019 00:24

Great update!

MalarkeyMouse · 28/12/2019 02:24

Well done. That should not have taken you six months and two returns though -Mulberry are spoiling their own brand.

SpeckledyHen · 28/12/2019 08:09

As the bag was faulty from the start you were entitled to your money back not gift vouchers. It’s too late now that you have accepted the outcome . Well done for getting it sorted to your satisfaction though .

What are you going to to buy now :)

sunflower129 · 28/12/2019 08:37

Thank you everyone! I have now purchased the same colour in a new design where I could choose a contrasting handle, which is lovely! The bonus is the sides have pull-ins that are adjustable! 😊

That’s still crap. It was defective and you are entitled to a refund. I would also have wanted money back for all the postage!

I don’t like handbags and can’t understand spending £700 on one, but these companies still get my goat
