Facial yoga/face exercises - do they work?

Before I spend lots of time searching out and trying the best exercises, has anyone any personal experience of it working or not working? I'm especially looking to reduce eyelid sagging, jowls and the pouchiness either side of the mouth (I have no idea what that bit is called).

Not personally, although I do intend to start this as my 30th birthday looms.. prevention is better than cure apparently!

My mum is 57 and has been doing facial exercises since her twenties, and her skin is absolutely amazing. People think she is waaaay younger than she is.

I've been gurning for o er 20 years but don't know if it works or not.

I am in my 50s and don't have any cheek sagging or marionette lines and my jaw line is tight.

But so was mother's face at the same age and she doesn't do facial exercises.

I read a book or article on Joan Collins years ago and just pull the faces that she said she did!

I work with someone who is 60 and does the exercises. She looks like she benefits from them but I have no idea what she would look like if she didn't do them. she inconsiderately didn't think to only exercise one side of her face for the sake of science. Angry

Facial massage and yoga will make a difference including to the appearance of the skin. Best to do it with a moisturising oil though and again when cleansing with a balm or oil.
You can also practice gua sha with the Hayou face tool or a jam jar lid.
Look up mewing on YouTube by an orthodontist (who believes in prevention), you can genuinely reshape your face and improve the appearance of your cheekbones and jaw/chin by:

  • Placing your tongue in the correct position
  • Chewing food thoroughly
  • Eating hard food

Yes! I've been following the Facerobics programme on Youtube for a few years and really notice a difference when I slack off for a few weeks. You have to stick with it for a few months doing it at least 4-5 times a week to see a difference, but once it becomes routine it's easy and it does help your face to feel more supple and full.

Thank you! Some positive experiences then! I will definitely check out the Facerobics channel - there seems to be a lot of resources there.
