What do you wear on your feet apart from boots?

Ok so I feel smart in boots in the winter when I go out for the day and there's a lot of walking. But what do you wear for a day out in the spring/summer ? Maybe with jeans. I want to look smart and avoid blisters at the same time! My days of wearing heels are over Smile

I wear ballerina flats and loafers with inserts if they're uncomfortable (either heel grips or arch support)

Sandals when the weather is nice.

I'm fully fed up of having to wear boots now though. I'm in the north and it feels like it's been raining for forever.

TrashPanda · 07/03/2019 13:16

sleepraptor I wear these sort of socks with low trainers but I get mine from Primark.

sleepraptor · 07/03/2019 13:45

Thanks TrashPanda

I wear trainers (got pumas & vans), ballet flats & sandals

SheeshazAZ09 · 07/03/2019 14:22

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver
I like the look of toms but I've read you can't wear them in the rain. Is that difficult in this, er, rather rainy country?

notsurewhatshappening · 07/03/2019 16:24

Smart trainers
Rainbow trainers
Glittery trainers
Birkenstocks
Superdry deck shoes
Ballet pumps
Saltwater sandals

I have Adidas gazelles in pale grey suede, superstars in white with rose gold stripe, and aubergine stripe.
I also have converse in about six colours but my favourites are a Matt pewter leather. They're lovely.
I've also got superga in beige metallic linen.

All of the above are fine with jeans. Some look ok with my 7/8 length work trousers too.

After years of wearing smart heeled boots, I'm bloody loving trainers.

Thedarklady · 07/03/2019 20:56

Nice leather flatform sandals in a height you're comfortable with.
The prettier looking loafers or boat shoes.
I love my leather Reebok trainers with matching colour trousers or chinos/jeans. They have a special ortho-sole too. I've done 12 miles and more with them. So comfy!

Greenglassteacup · 07/03/2019 22:36

I like brogues from dune, they are always really comfy and well made.

Greenglassteacup · 07/03/2019 22:37

I’m 44 years old and have never worn a trainer in my life Shock. I had plimsols at school

skankingpiglet · 07/03/2019 22:50

Winter I wear either high top Converse or Merrell ankle high trainer-style walking boots. My walking boots are about 10yrs old and still going strong, the Converse last about 18-24m I find.
Summer is Rocket Dog canvas trainers (agree with PP they wear through after 6m of 10000-12000 average steps a day, but they're cheap when on sale, comfy with thinish soles, and come in plenty of nice prints) for smarter wear/cooler days, and Merrell sandals the rest of the time. The latter are so comfortable and my current pair aren't showing any real signs of wear to the soles despite 7 months of nearly continuous use. I can't wait to get them back out and don't care they are a long way from fashionable as the are just so comfy! I'm going to invest in a pair of barefoot trail shoes this spring too as I've wanted some for a long time.
I live in a village, walk a fair bit, and value comfort over style, which my shoes reflect!

Pinkjellyfish · 07/03/2019 23:37

I wear Vans Authentic in navy - love them and they go with pretty much anything including skirts/dresses. Also my Adidas trainers but they’re less versatile

ViserionTheDragon · 07/03/2019 23:44

Another vote for Supergas.

scatteredglitter · 08/03/2019 00:46

I struggle with this a bit too.
I have superstars that need replacing - thinking of getting some red suede gazelles.
And I love brogues too - have burgundy patent/ tan and a matte silver pairs that all go well with skinny jeans / midi skirts.
I like the look of mules but I walk so much and am constantly on the go that slippage and blisters from them just won't work for me.

Oh and also in spring / summer - I wear tan suede ankle boots I love!

bitofabelly · 08/03/2019 05:56

Superga...love them but how can I kept my whites white!!!!! I see Superga do socks now

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 08/03/2019 21:23

@SheeshazAZ09 I wear them in the rain, they dry out quick. Seriously though, some are linen that can take a bit more rain that the canvas ones, they're not a long distance walking shoe but for nipping about the shops etc I love them!

SymbollocksInteractionism · 09/03/2019 08:02

I wear converse hi tops in different colours. My most recent pair are white leather platform soles and I really like them.
I also wear dr marten boots and flat loafers or brogues

Blankscreen · 09/03/2019 08:20

Yes I though this the other day, I don't really own any shoes. I have boots and trainers but no shoes.

cuppycakey · 09/03/2019 20:25

Converse high tops

Blue suede gazelles

Birkies

Ellapaella · 10/03/2019 08:48

I wear boots mostly in winter but also wear trainers - I have dark burgundy Nike Pegasus which are my favourite. I have Superga but not keen on them, they feel a bit too summery to wear in winter and I hate having cold feet.
I also have a pair of grey trainers which look very similar to Adidas Gazelles which are from Espirit and a pair of patent burgundy brogues.
In summer I live in pumps or sandals and flip flops.

JaceLancs · 10/03/2019 14:36

Pointed flats - usually from Dune
I have around 10 pairs in various colours

TheClitterati · 10/03/2019 21:51

Wolky and Fit Flops.

I can wait for sandal season.
