Making sandals more comfortable

I have some sandals which I really like but the part which goes across my toes rubs. I had the idea of putting some kind of sticky tape on the inside which will hopefully feel
Nicer and stop the rubbing. Any ideas what kind of tape I need for this? Thanks, I know it’s a bit of a weird question!

Try rubbing a candle against the bits that cut you. Sounds nuts but it works!
