Murder Mystery Outfit Help

So I have been invited to my first murder mystery weekend! I am very excited but struggling a little with outfit planning.

It's set in the 1920's and my character's bio is a Hollywood superstar - glamorous and mysterious. The outfit suggestion is: 'if you’re not wearing your hair up in a sequin pinned scarf, your permed playful ringlets bounce on your delicate chiffon dress'.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get an appropriate 1920's style glam dress on not a huge budget? I am quite small - 5'1 and size 8 so worried some of the full length gowns will look like I am playing dress up in my Mam's clothes haha!

Why on earth would they put that stupid thing about a sequin pinned scarf??? Do they mean a "sequinned, pinned scarf"? And why would a 1920s starlet have long curls??

Charity shops all the way - we regularly get people in who are shopping for outfits for this sort of event.

1920s to me would be a drop waisted dress, or something with lots of beading or fringing. Head band or fascinator, beaded bag, long strings of beads. Black/White/Silver.

The character write up is clearly ridiculous, but eBay have lots of 1920s dress for a few quid - there's a Zara one on at the moment for 99p, for example

I'd go for a knee length (or slightly longer) flapper dress too, accessorised as per Silene's suggestions. Maybe a cigarette holder too?

I've seen this in the flesh, so to speak, it's gorgeous and a steal for the price
