Wedding Dress Help

I'm getting married next year. Registery (sp?) Office wedding and a big party afterwards.

I'm not sure how far in advance I need to source a dress?

I'm 39, 5ft 4 ish, size 12-14 although I'm trying to shift a stone or so before then (lies to self). I have an hourglass figure with big boobs and hips and a smaller waist so look better in fitted clothes.

I like this dress from Bombshell but friends and my savage teen daughters don't seem keen. The word matronly has been bandied about.
But I haven't seen anything else I like, I don't want a big ball gown or slinky affair as I will look and feel a knob due to my giant boobs.

I was thinking of pairing it with a bit of a net fascinator type thing and some fabulous shoes. What do you think and have you any ideas?

I think it's lovely. Teamed with something else it'll look great.

Maybe something like this

Hi thanks for reply. Yes that's just what I had in mind!

There's a woman on the Bombshell website in a fabulous feathered head piece in the same dress who looks amazing.

I think that’s a lovely dress. For big boobs maybe something like this might also be flattering: www.joybetty.co.uk/beautiful-you-princess-style-v-neck-short-chiffon-wedding-dresses-50153.html?___store=en&gclid=CjwKCAiA8OjjBRB4EiwAMZe6ywQdJF6TS0kuKS5YHti5j1En9ZeIfeQ-S0gqWZ9xmKlOFBuPku6NehoCWHUQAvD_BwE

It’s possibly a bit more ‘bride’ but I think if you would be comfortable in the other one then your daughters should at least see you in it!

MissMogwai · 02/03/2019 16:05

That's gorgeous, thanks for the tip. So cheap too!

To be honest I will wear what I'm comfortable and feel good in, but teenage girls can be harsh critics Grin. They've been sending me images of £££ frocks that I wouldn't get one arm in so what do they know!

@Palominoo that dress is beautiful!

maloofhoof · 02/03/2019 16:36

To me they look more old fashioned that the OP's choice.

MissMogwai · 02/03/2019 16:37

Thanks so much, I hadn't seen that site. I love the second dress!

I think your choice OP is fab!

OlennasWimple · 02/03/2019 16:59

I like the dress OP - have you tried it on? My only thought might be that it might make your boobs very prominent

Other options (if only because seeing other things can help you be more certain on your original choice)...

Crepe with nice sleeves

Cotton (I think you would probably want to extend the underlayer though)

TickTockBaby · 02/03/2019 17:25

I like your original choice OP, think it's very classic, maybe a bit low key? I love this from the high street, think it's on the same theme of being classic but perhaps more bridal. https://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/ukcatalog/monn40,mon40.1/6401164610

Hello! I am similar shape to you, little shorter and I wore this dress to my brothers wedding and I might get it in ivory for my own inexpensive wedding dress when the time comes. It is honestly beautiful on curves. Good luck!

There's this version in a circle skirt if your conscious about your stomach, but that neck line is just so flattering on large boobs

I think your original choice is by far the nicest OP!

MissMogwai · 03/03/2019 12:18

Thanks everyone. Some gorgeous dresses out there! I love some of the suggestions made, I just keep coming back to my original dress.

I think I will have to order a couple and see how they look on. I think Bombshell only have a shop in London, so I've only seen the dress online so far. I just love the shape of it.

Im thinking of champagne or gold
as bridesmaid dresses etc. So looking for those as well. Don't want to spend too much as picky teenagers!

I love your choice - classic and will suit your shape. Enjoy your day!
