Lookalike birkenstocks

Tkmaxx has some decently priced birkenstock look a likes. Has anyone tried them? Are the footbeds properly supportive?

I don’t know what TKMaxxhace in stock, but I have had Birkie look alice’s in the past. They were really uncomfortable and not at all supportive. Then I bought actual birdies, so much nicer to wear.

SimplyPut · 01/03/2019 22:06

I got DH some last year in TKmaxx, the leather ripped after two wears at the buckle hole. More felt with poor leather trim! Got the real deal and has worn them well over 50 tines and still look new!

GreenEggsHamandChips · 01/03/2019 22:19

Ok i shall back away from the fake birkenstock!

Tk maxx usually have real birkenstocks hold out for them

GreenEggsHamandChips · 02/03/2019 09:19

They have some but size threes.... do they sometimes have larger sizes?

Bought fake birkies from tkmaxx a couple of years back for £15. They are comfy

Haffiana · 02/03/2019 12:00

I have looked at those and the most noticeable difference is that the lookalikes have a very thin sole.

I would expect them to have none of the comfort of a proper Birkenstock.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 02/03/2019 16:58

I'm going to go against the grain and say get the fake ones. Then you won't feel bad binning them when the cork footbed gets manky (or is it only my birkies that do that??).

AllTheCakes · 02/03/2019 17:02

I have had look a likes from Office before that were just as comfortable, like the link below.

Office sell good Birkenstock alikes. They last forever as well. I have a pair on their 3rd or maybe even 4th year this year.

I do prefer the real thing which I try and get in Costco when they have the new stock in. My size always sells out fast there though.

OxanaVorontsova · 02/03/2019 17:03

I have some gizeh style notbirkies from TK Maxx which are every bit as comfy as my proper ones, can't remember what make they are though

Hwory · 02/03/2019 17:04

I’ve got some Birkenstock’s lookalikes from office. Super comfy.

ChipInTheSugar · 02/03/2019 17:22

I had some Spanish brand of Birkie lookalikes from TkMaxx last year - they were so comfortable from the start - I can't wait to wear them again this year Smile

Lamentations · 02/03/2019 17:41

I bought a really lovely looking and very comfortable pair from there last year but the soles came off within a couple of months - they were just glued on. Too good to be true at £12.99 I'm afraid. I bought a real pair in the Asos sale for this summer.

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 02/03/2019 18:27

I was in TKMaxx today and the had the real Birkies in lots of sizes. They had 4s, 5s and 6s for definite.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 02/03/2019 18:35

Now im utterly confused!! Birkenstocks have been recommended because DD (and DS) need insoles and physio say we can do without them with birkenstocks. So the main thing is a solid footbed. But actually a bit of padding in the sole department is easier on the knees. Last year i made a vague nod to getting them but neither could fit the pair i got (returnable amazon) so both decided theyd rather wear trainers. Until warm weather hit and DD was in flip flops the second you weren't lookingHmm. I had a pair of crocs flip flops so not so bad but not great either.
My local tkmaxx has nothing in. Maybe i need to go further afield

TKMaxx have the real ones online
In the summer they usually sell Birkenstocks made for outlets too

Lamentations · 02/03/2019 19:21

Ok so I think if you are buying for a foot issue you definitely need to avoid cheap copies, they won't have the same effect at all.

The Birkenstock's I've bought this time have a cushioned footbed, they are a lot nicer than the originals but I guess you need to check if they will have the same effect.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 03/03/2019 21:49

So went to further away tkmaxx (no office). No birkenstocks in the right sizes (too big or too small by a size) but found some lookalikes that did seem to offer decent support. Im figuring DS' feet will probably grow in a year so they dont have to last too long.

I was less sure about DD's (shed set her heart some too big madrids) but they are sparkly. Then lo and behold some madrid birkenstocks in the right size popped up for DD online tonight. The fakes and reals from tkmaxx are cheap enough to keep both and see how they go.

Win all round. That you for the advice really helped me go in eyes open. Just me to sort now

Costco do real birks.

Disco3000 · 03/03/2019 22:26

Papillon brand is by birkenstock but cheaper. Look out for those.

GreenEggsHamandChips · 04/03/2019 08:32

No costco near us. I will look out for papillion in future
