What shoes with denim blue dress?

EmberElftree · 01/03/2019 16:04

The dress is silk but is a denim blue shade. It's for a wedding in May.

I was thinking silver and would rather not wear nude or tan shoes because it's a bit dull.

Would it be better to go for a pop of colour instead? Hot pink? Turquoise? I've no idea! I usually wear black, red, purple or jewel colours so this shade of blue is outside of my usual palette.

Shoes that match the dress.

Tatapie · 01/03/2019 22:56

Link to dress please! Silver sounds good tho

EmberElftree · 02/03/2019 04:49

I can't link the dress Tatapie as I bought it in a tiny shop but it's this shade of blue. Still hankering after fuschia or maybe I need denim sandals!

I like the idea of a pop of colour like bright pink actually. However, I have zero fashion knowhow and have to stalk S&B for basic tips.

Sorry the pic didnt attach. Dress is this colour. Me too eggnog, silver is nice but a bit boring maybe.

Do not match the dress.

I love the hot pink idea. Amal yellow shoes and clutch would be even better.

HeronLanyon · 02/03/2019 06:08

Another for not matching the dress. Lovely colour. Any jewel colour would work well ?

seven201 · 02/03/2019 06:08

Orange?

MrsBertBibby · 02/03/2019 06:11

Amal yellow

Oh Lord I misread that.

overtheirishsea · 02/03/2019 06:22

Bright or mustard yellow.

Where's the dress from? Please?!

EmberElftree · 02/03/2019 07:53

I thought about bright yellow but I'd wear bright pink again. I've already got electric blue sandals and they look wrong with the colour of the dress.

Overtheirishsea the dress in the pic is from lulu I just searched for one which matches the colour of my dress. This link might work for you;

I think leopard would look good too.

FairyMoppings · 02/03/2019 07:59

Do you already have accessories? Bag, necklace etc? Get shoes that coordinate with your accessories.

Tatapie · 02/03/2019 18:18

Ember if I like silver it's very likely to be classic boring!

overtheirishsea · 04/03/2019 08:47

Thanks for the link

StarlightLady · 04/03/2019 08:53

Yellow ballet pumps. And large yellow beads. Be bold.

TulipsTulipsTulips · 04/03/2019 09:19

Bright pink would look fantastic. Silver also lovely or shoes with jewels on them. Not navy or blue!

CountFosco · 04/03/2019 13:07

It's potentially a hard colour to get a nice contrast with a pair of shoes. Nude, white (snakeskin?) or silver might be the easy (safe) choice actually and may be an option for a bag if you go for a 'pop' colour for your shoes.

Possible pops of colour that might work: green (not all greens will work), red, yellow/mustard, orange (like green I don't think all oranges will work). Some purples/lilacs might work as well.

Beautiful colour, can you post a photo of you in it to help us advise further.

bingoitsadingo · 04/03/2019 14:06

I think a burgundy shoe would be lovely!

fiorentina · 04/03/2019 21:33

Bright lime green or mustard yellow could be great. Or I’ve seen denim blue styled with khaki, maybe more practical if it’s going to be an outdoor marquee style wedding?

HeronLanyon · 04/03/2019 22:00

A strong but not a bright colour I think. Think bright will detract from lovely colour of dress and be a bit ‘hard’ when dress colour is soft. Like a rich jewel green or jewel red dark purple??

hastingsmua1 · 04/03/2019 23:34

I really like the idea of silver heels with that dress. Or a very flattering nude shade, the sort that compliments your complexion very well.

I’m not so keen on the bright options but it depends on the tones and the style of shoe really - you could absolutely pull it off with the right combination

EmberElftree · 05/03/2019 08:27

Thanks for the suggestions! I've tried all of the bright colours with it Inc. my ted baker fuschia bag and it just doesn't look right together on me. I'm pale and blonde so I think I'll stick to cool tones and the safe (classic) option of silver or nude shoes then try to find a bag with jewel colours for a subtle pop and wear a bright lip.
