Double Wear Light alternative

Hi all,

I've been using Estée Lauder Doulbe Wear light since 2013. Gone to order a new one and seen they've changed the colours and according to reviews the formula has changed too. Lots of comments saying it's drying & aging.

What would be a good alternative? I'm 35, skin is ok. Dark circles and look blotchy & tired with no make up. Tend towards greasy patches around my nose & forehead by the end of the day.

I wear a small amount to even out skin tone, with extra concealer under eyes & pink blush. I don't like feeling caked.

Don't mind spending up to £40, bonus points in JL stock it as I have a voucher.

Help! And thank you Star

I totally feel your pain and was in the same position. DW light was my HG. I've had a colour match and sample of the new formula and also of the regular DW and to be honest have warmed to the regular DW over the new formulation. I have to be careful with the primer I use under it though. I did get a recommendation on here for Lancôme teint idole but haven't tried it yet.

I'm in the same boat too. Been usinf EL DW Light since 2011, got a sample of the new formula recently and found it to be more watery and slide all over my face?! Sad

Have just been reading good things on another thread about Boots No7 new one, and it's only £15! So am going to give that a go...here's a review

How funny - I bought this one yesterday! I tried it last night and really liked it. Not tested it's staying power yet but was fab for an evening out and I really liked the coverage and how it felt on my skin.

Bargain too!

@Babytalkobsession oh yay! Glad you're a fan! May I ask what colour/shade you used to be in Double Wear Light? And which shade of the No7 you bought?

I was Intensity 2.0 in the original ones. Got colour matched for the crappy new one recently but the lady on the EL counter didn't write down th shade so can't remember what my new shade would be, but hate the new formula anyway! So am going to try this new No7 stuff but no idea which shade to get...thanks.

I have done the shift from ELDW to ELDW light and now I use Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It has a lovely finish and with a primer and setting spray it lasts

Babytalkobsession · 03/03/2019 17:51

@SatsumaFan I was 2.0 in the old DWL and Boots matched me with their little gadget to Warm Ivory.

I think it's a good match, on reflect I think the EL was a little too yellow on me.

Oh thank you so much! Will do a click and collect for Warm Ivory then (live in a backwater town and it's a trek to a large Boots!).

SatsumaFan · 03/03/2019 19:35

Dag nammit. It's 3 for 2 on No7 atm, plus a free eyeshadow pallet on orders over £25. So was gonna get the HydraLuminous foundation for £15 And a mascara for £14 then get something free plus free pallete/gift but the palette is out of stock Sad

SatsumaFan · 05/03/2019 22:54

Trekked into town today and No7 lady colour matched me to Calico, even tho OP had said we wore 2.0 in Double Wear Light and she was matched to Warm Ivory? Hmm So we had a look at both and decided Calico was too pale for me (What's the point in using that fancy little gadget then?!) So I bought a tube of Warm Ivory, a 360 mascara and got an eyeshadow palette for free as 3 for 2 still on.

Look forward to using it in the morning and reporting back Smile How are you getting on with it OP?

I changed a few years ago to Nars. I have skin that is very dry and this makes me look dewy.

SatsumaFan · 05/03/2019 22:59

Ah I have oily/combination skin so need something slightly mattifying I think.

Imacliche · 10/03/2019 17:34

Revlon colorstay. Read the reviews. Full on eldw dupe. Its amazing

Imacliche · 10/03/2019 17:34

It comes in 2 formulas. One for normal/dry skin and one for oily/combination

Imacliche · 10/03/2019 17:40

Scuse the poorly applied makeup. But this is how it looks on. Had been on a good 5 hours at that point. I have pretty oily skin too. And get hormonal spots. Coverage is amazing and a good range of shades too. I wear buff.

Howaboutthisone · 21/03/2019 20:36

@Imacliche that looks fab! Which is closer to dw in formula- the oily or dry? I'm a bit weird in that my forehead can get dry but nose etc gets oily.

Imacliche · 22/03/2019 05:03

Id say the combination one is best. Doesn't cling to my dry bits or my oily nose too much. Youll need to set it down around extra oily parts with a powder too. But thats much the sams with most foundations.
I also use a mattifying pore filling primer before it
