Maternity wear - where to buy? Reasonable smart clothes needed

I've recently found out I'm early stages pregnant but GP reckons about 8 weeks along. Showing a bit re larger stomach but not too much.

My problem is that apart from I think two tops casual I bought and a casual stripey dress - these were from 4.5/5 years ago if you count when I was pregnant - with DD4.5 - the rest I ebayed or gave away over the years (after 3 years I sort of gave up on the chance of having another DC, this pregnancy was a surprise).

I work in a smart government office as a PA/EA, contractor and can already see that my clothes will be too small. At home I can get away with buying larger leggings rather than maternity etc.

But I have no idea where to go or what to wear for smarter maternity wear. I looked briefly round H&M as I got MAMA wear from them before, there seemed a few bits but still wasn't sure. Don't want to waste loads of money and don't want to invest in Seraphine etc. This will be my last pregnancy due to age too.

any ideas please?

Ebay, red herring maternity at Debenhams, h&m, topshop I've had nice bits from all of above. Also got some lovely strechy dresses from miss Selfridge in sale I just bought next size up x

Next is quite good for some smart stuff and their maternity stuff is comfy

Most of my work clothes were Jojo or Gap.
You can get amazing deals on eBay.

MadameDD · 01/03/2019 13:15

Welshweasel - I was checking JoJo and they have some nice bits and have been scouring Ebay for some bits too, thanks!

mrsk28 - from an aunt of mine I have a Next gift card for Christmas - I'll use some of it on the maternity stuff as its for £100 - generous aunt!

Jojo have an outlet section on their website which has stuff decently reduced.

Gap have a fairly good selection of work wear and constantly have promotions and sales on- annoyingly I think the maternity stuff is only online.

I've just seen that Outlet section on JoJo and noticed Gap doesn't have maternity in-store but they do have it online now you've mentioned it.

Funnily enough I'm off to USA at Easter to see a family friend with DH and DD4.5 as still safe to fly then and she's ordered clothes for me before and as she's in Delaware which 0% tax on clothes and next to Philadelphia which is 0% or very low tax on clothes I will see if you can buy maternity clothes in store there - sometimes rules are different in USA or have some delivered to her house for me and will pick them up and just bring an extra suitcase.

Isabella Oliver or seraphina via eBay

Laureline · 03/03/2019 07:38

I bought some Seraphine dresses for my pregnancy last year - I got a lot of compliments (at the office, at the doctor’s, on the bus Grin)

RocketPockets · 03/03/2019 07:43

New look has some nice maternity wear. Some bigger stores have it instore (or at least they did a year or so ago).
Next, h&m. Most shops only have their maternity range online which I found really annoying!

Vanannabananna · 03/03/2019 07:43

Jojo did me very well. Dorothy Perkins too. They have 25% off atm too. Also h and m, next and new look.

Cookit · 03/03/2019 08:17

I mostly use EBay bundles containing JoJo or Seraphine stuff.

imsorryiasked · 03/03/2019 08:27

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm desperate for a maternity smart black jacket / blazer. Have tried all the above options - is there anywhere else?

snowone · 03/03/2019 08:36

Local buy and sell sites on FB can have some gems. I'm 39+5 and have just finished work, I will be selling my maternity stuff on there when I'm done with it!!

MadameDD · 03/03/2019 16:31

Cookit - I just saw a few EBay bundles this weekend with JoJo stuff which am bidding on.
