Help me improve the condition of my hair!

Brief synopsis- my hair is naturally thick and wavy. I’ve generally left it long (boob length) and wavy with minimal intervention- I’d blow dry it after washing, and maybe straighten it once a fortnight or so. Condition was always good.

I had a haircut from a scissor-happy hairdresser a couple of years ago (she gave me a very, very short graduated bob, which was not what I asked for). I had to straighten it every day to stop it looking horrendous.

I’ve been trying to grow it ever since, and having tiny trims every 10 weeks. It’s back to my collar bone now, and I don’t need to straighten it daily any more.

The issue is that I’m suddenly getting LOADS of split ends. I think that all the straightening has really damaged it. So, today I went to the hairdresser and had a good inch cut off to remove them all. I want to stop this happening again, and am starting with the below:

  • Have bought a wide tooth comb (was using a standard brush before).
  • Taking Biotin supplements daily.
  • Heat protector for use when blow drying/ straightening.
  • I’ve ordered Redken Extreme shampoo, conditioner and hair mask.
  • My hairdresser has advised shampooing twice each time I wash, so I will do that.
  • Only washing every other day (I wash it daily now).
  • Have bought invisibobble hair ties, which apparently are less damaging when I tie it up?
  • Haircuts every 7 weeks until hairdresser is happy with condition.

Is there anything else I’m missing?

... I realise that this is a major first world problem, but I’ve always quite liked my hair and I just want it back.
