Trainers with jeans - fastening

I really need some new trainers to wear with ankle grazing jeans. From reading on here these should maybe be white stan smiths? But how do you fasten them? Does everyone lace them up or do you do that thing of lacing them under the tongue and then not undoing them every time and hoping the knot doesn't squish the top of your foot? I'm sure I've missed some important education here! Last year I wore slip-on Toms which were great for slipping on and off but they are pretty low cut (which I've always thought I preferred to give more space between the shoe and the jean), very casual and not all that comfy to be honest. Advice please! (also, any suggestions for new jeans. I've worn my Oasis Isabellas to death but I've never been a huge fan of the ankle zips. I loved my Top Shop New Baxters way back when but I think they discontinued them)

I wear Supergas, laced up in double bows.

I think it's a bit 'teenager at secondary school' to try and hide the laces to be honest.

I wear Supergas too, they're very comfy... dont really like trainers. Laced up with a normal bow.

That's reassuring. I always lace converse normally but find the laces are so long and flap about a bit. I'll have a look for Supergas later... like this? www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,20/1603521856?rec1=1

I work with a lot of young people - white trainers definitely seem in. I see a lot of Stan Smiths and also chunky Fila things which look great - like these pics.

The Nike Air force Ones are really comfy but I just find trainers too big and clumpy...
The Superga laces arent that long, I just manage a single bow Grin

FuckItFriday · 27/02/2019 10:39

I got a pair of look a like fila chunky trainers from primark that I wear with ankle grazers and just get the laces to suit then knot them and leave the rest tucked in. I've been wearing my trainers like that since I was a teenager so not about to change!

Apart from converse.

M0reGinPlease · 27/02/2019 10:47

Yes @jjj789 I find them really comfy and supportive.

Swiftier · 27/02/2019 10:57

I’m another Superga wearer and just lace them with a normal bow.

Slip on Vans are my go to

YesQueen · 27/02/2019 12:32

I use synch bands - they're basically elastic lace replacements

QuirkyQuark · 27/02/2019 12:56

My dd 20 wears Nike Airforce Ones with ankle grazer jeans.

banivani · 27/02/2019 14:52

Jesus I just tie my shoelaces? The way I was taught as a mere child... ;)

jjj789 · 27/02/2019 15:26

I went to town. Tried converse and supergas but ended up with a pair of super comfy sam smiths. But, they might be going back as the tongue just seems so long! I'm also not sure about jean length. Is actual cropped ok, or is it better to just turn up some skinnies? I've tried them on with Top Shop Jamie and they look too short, but skinnies turned up to the same length maybe look better. I have no idea Confused
