Personal shopping - York/Leeds

I'm looking to up my game at work a bit and realise I need to sharpen my image in line with my newly senior role (have got a bit scruffy and complacent lately). I have a fair idea of what works for me (Cos, Jaeger London (discontinued?), All Saints etc) but am finding it hard to create a coherent look that is corporate but also a bit "edgy" and still true to myself. I am also on a modest budget that puts the likes of The Fold and Vivienne Westwood (swoon) out of reach.
I've been looking at all the threads re personal shoppers and am tempted - it seems a sensible approach to making the best of my spend? Does anyone have any experience of JL in either York or Leeds? What about Fenwicks in York? I've also seen mention of personal styling consultants - any thoughts on these and recommendations in Yorkshire? Thank you!

There is a fenwicks in york, there’s also a very modern John Lewis at vanguard retail park
I don’t know what the personal shoppers are like

I personally think the Fenwicks in York has a much better selection of 'edgy' ranges than JL at Vanguard. To be honest I think our JL is very meuhh.

The other thing you could do is actually have a personal trawl in York. We have some really good options for the basics Jigsaw, Toast, large Hobbs, Fenwicks, White Company, Browns and some individual shops where you might pick up edgier pieces.

There is also an Anthropologie in Leeds.

I have a friend who has used the personal shopper in House of Fraser in Leeds a few times. She swears by it and really rates them

I hadn't even thought of House of Fraser - for some reason I thought it had closed down but just checked and it's still open. Will take a look at their brands - in my mind I've always thought of it as quite dull but actually I'm not sure I've ever been in one!

The personal shopper service in JL at Vangarde is really excellent. I haven't had experience of the one at Fenwick, but I agree that the clothes there are better. Maybe have the personal shopper appointment at JL and get some ideas about what you like, then go to Fenwicks and try some stuff on there too?
