Whitening my teeth?

I don't have particularly yellow or discoloured teeth, but watching something on netflix and seeing a normal mum (not celeb) and she has beautiful white teeth. Is this an expensive/painful dentist procedure or teeth whitening strips I can find online? Have very little clue and just looking for personal recommendations please.

I got custom made trays & whitening gel from my dentist for about £250 back in 2009.

I got my teeth fairly white.

My teeth became sensitive as a result so I started using Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste which really helped.

Now my teeth are not so white (too much coffee etc) so I've got the trays out & paid £50 for some whitening gel from the same dentist.
You can buy daytime or nighttime gel, I bought the daytime as I don't like sleeping with the trays in.

I believe it's better to get custom fitted trays & the gels from a proper dentist as it's safer.

Exactly the same as pp. I got a good result from the dentist’s trays but it is expensive. I also don’t like sleeping with the trays in as the taste of the gel is horrible.

thank you for replying. I have sensitive teeth anyway caused by too much diet coke, so have to use pronamel anyway. Does the whitening affect your enamel?

I recommend Crest Whitestrips. I have sensitive teeth but these didn't cause me any problems. You stick them to your teeth for half an hour a day for a week - super easy and no mess or fuss. Only issue is that they aren't licensed for sale in the UK and the only way to buy them is on ebay, but I did this and had no problems.

OP did you whiten your teeth and if so which method did you go for? I’m considering the same thing having stopped smoking. My skin isn’t great (doing what I can about that) but think I won’t feel so bad about it f my teeth are nice and white!

It is illegal to do teeth whitening if you are not a registered dental professional. So the beauty therapists who claim they can do it, cant, they can use a gel that wont whitening you teeth but may stain remove.

Theres a big difference between stain removal and actually loghteningnthe shade of your teeth.

Always go to the dentist. You're looking at around £250 for home whitening.
