How often to you buy new bra's?

I brought a pack of 2 about 6 months ago from Matalan and they already need replacing. The cups don't sit quite right after washing and the underwire is starting to poke through the fabric.

I've had my beloved underwired M&S bra's for at least 3 years.

They were fitted perfectly making my boobs look fab and therefore my waist look slimmer and wash really well and there is no sign of wear and tear.

Although I tend to whip off my bra's the second I walk through my front door.

If I wear a bra at home it's a cheaper Sainsbury's TU non wired sculptured bra which is not nearly as flattering. I am currently at home wearing no bra but will put one one on before my grocery shopping delivery then take it off again Grin I sound insane, I'm really not.
I also take off my decent clothes as soon as I get home to change into my comfier lounge wear or baggier boyfriend jeans.

Angelinthenightx · 26/02/2019 12:45

Everytime they go on sale ,i go to ann summers their every day bra's fit so well . I maybe by 1-4 a year just depends. But the bra's do last a long time ive had ones for years i still wear.

KatharinaRosalie · 26/02/2019 12:48

Whenever I see a good deal in a model I like. I have a whole drawer full, so individual bras get worn at long intervals and they last for ever.

calsovip · 26/02/2019 12:48

Usually about once a year. Mine are from M&S and I put them inside those little "hardcover" bra nets before chucking them into the wash - keeps them in shape with the wires intact!

sweetheart · 26/02/2019 14:03

Tantric - I don't think you sound insane at all - infact I think we are kindred spirits!

My mantra once I get through the door at home is:- bra off, PJ's on, glasses on, hair up!

Bras (no apostrophe PLEASE as we are talking about a plural) last about a year for me. Hooks start going, holes start appearing around the side supports, white colour looks manky. It's expensive and very annoying.

mrsoutnumbered · 26/02/2019 15:17

I've been rotating the same two bras from M&S for about 2 years!! They're padded and non wired.

They have however just started to go manky, so I've just bought some new ones from George.

dementedpixie · 26/02/2019 15:21

I've got loads as every so often dh gets me new ones at Christmas and I never get round to throwing the old ones away. I don't have a size you can get easily in supermarkets/Matalan, etc so I end up with more expensive ones.

Seniorschoolmum · 26/02/2019 15:21

Typically 12 months before they start to lose their shape, get a bit grey and ratty.

Except my running bras which are black and seem to last for ever.

GraceMarks · 26/02/2019 16:34

Mine last for years, but I have quite a lot of them, so each one probably gets worn once every three or four weeks. I have to get underwired ones with moulded cups because I have one boob significantly bigger than the other and if I wear a stretch-type cup, the one over the smaller boob goes wrinkly because it's not full Grin

M&S tend to be the best fit and last for longer. Supermarket bras don't last as long and I find the underwire starts to poke out after about six months.

NorthEndGal · 26/02/2019 16:40

I stopped wearing them daily last year, and haven't looked back.
I do still wear one occasionally with certain frocks, dressed up.
(Only a d cup, so they aren't in the way, or hurt my back or anything)

dementedpixie · 26/02/2019 16:57

I don't feel comfy without a bra and if they hang I get really sweaty underneath them (36GG)

DorothyZbornak · 26/02/2019 18:08

I buy them constantly. I probably have 40+ sets, but the majority of them are Primark. I'm a 32A/B so I buy the little sets for around a fiver.

Richlyfruited · 26/02/2019 19:17

My bras last for years and I only ever buy cheap or in sales from JL or M&S. I don't have any interest or enthusiasm in buying undies Grin

Sadly though I've noticed they are no longer fitting properly as I've hit my 40s. I was measured years ago and now I'm doing more exercise means my cup size seems to be changing. Might need to do a bra haul soon 😲

bibbitybobbityyhat · 26/02/2019 19:20

I've got 4 bras - 1 white, 1 nude, 2 black. All M&S supersoft t-shirt bras, they have revolutionised my life.

I might buy 1, max 2 per year.

GivemeGinandTonic · 26/02/2019 20:04

About once a year I’ll get a load of new sets, I always get 2x pants for every bra. Usually get a haul off Figleaves sale section!
Their stuff is great quality which feels comfy but also looks fab / makes me feel good.

Check out facebook Boob or Bust group for DIY bra fitting, if you're not sure your bra size is right.

ShabbyAbby · 26/02/2019 20:18

I'm wearing my maternity bra which I bought 6 years ago Blush

Richlyfruited · 26/02/2019 20:39

Thx for that recommendation KatharinaRosalie - that looks a useful page!

Youmadorwhat · 26/02/2019 20:45

Once a year I get fitted and buy two/three new bras. I usually spend 60-75 per bra they are amazing quality. I wash them separately and according to instructions. I’ve been doing it that way for about 7 years now.

StarlightLady · 27/02/2019 04:52

Usually January sales and when sales crop up around mid summer. I love bright colours and patterns and usually by 2 pairs of matching knix in different styles (possibly one in a thong back). I always wear underwired a and machine wash but put them in a lingerie bag. I bin as soon as they fail the “mirror test”.

I avoid “cardboard” colour (allegedly nude), I think it looks awful and don’t wear white, it reminds me of my schooldays. I prefer a soft pink or Peach to wear under light summer things.
