Under eye concealer

When I do concealer under my eyes I only ever do a few dabs and the blend in. It does absolutely nothing and I've always blamed the product or the darkness under my eyes. However when I watch you tubers ally their makeup (the more natural ones) they literally paint it on under their eyes, is this where I'm going wrong? How much should I be using?

I just dab a couple dots on then blend. Do you use a colour corrector? I think it’s peach/orange for dark circles.
