Help me choose an eternity ring please!

My husband has very kindly offered to buy me one for a significant anniversary.

My wedding ring is plain 18ct white gold and my engagement ring is a single rub over diamond about 0.3ct in 18ct white gold. I have about £500 to spend but I'd be happier if we spent less.

My problem is that I've heard you shouldn't wear 9ct and 18ct gold next to each other, so I've been searching for 18ct white gold but they're so expensive for a simple channel set half eternity. I thought an alternative might be to have a none eternity style ring for the other hand, in a more contemporary style like monica vinader or similar, but all the ones I like are in sterling silver, not white gold and I worry it will tarnish and not be suitable for everyday.

All help and advice much appreciated.

That's a lovely ring, MortyVicar.

Oo thank you! I hadn't thought of eBay, do you think it's okay to buy rings from there? Vintage/2nd hand would be quite nice!

Well the seller has 100% positive feedback and affects a no quibbles refund. If you decide to go with that one take it to a local jeweller to have it checked as soon as you get it.

Would recommend the above. You can 'build' your own, choosing style, metal, cut, caract, colour, clarity and so on, adjusting to suit your budget. I'm very happy with mine Smile

Blue Nile. They have lovely stuff, but its always worth waiting for a sale. If you can wait until Black Friday (!) thats when you get fab deals on diamond eternities - often 50% off. A few days later on Cyber Monday they do the same with the coloured stones. I waited a whole year for a half eternity after I saw a lovely one but didn't move fast enough and they sold out. I saved while waiting and ended up with a bigger one so it was worth it!

Massive mark-up on new jewellery so I'd look at antique rings.

You could have diamonds set into your wedding ring instead, a jeweller once suggested that as an option for me after is said I haven't got long enough fingers to wear three rings together.

Have a look at Etsy for vintage rings. It's where I got my engagementring from and it's lovely!
