Spring coats

I'm making an effort to dress / look nicer this year. I don't spend much time or money on myself normally and have got stuck in a bit of a rut. I'd like a new spring coat but can't find any that I like enough to buy. Joules have been my go-to for the last few years as they are light, waterproof and wash well but I'm over the patterns and I'd like something a bit smarter but still as practical. I'm late 40s and size 18. Any suggestions appreciated!

Bumping! I'm currently looking for a spring coat also, I did try on a beige trench coat the other day which I quite liked however my five year old pointed out I looked like inspector gadget...not quite what I was going for!

M&S do usually have a few lightweight trench style coat in different colours so I'm going to check them out next time I'm shopping. Other than that I don't know - I'd prefer knee length but a simpler style than trench if that makes sense? I did have one many years ago from H&M but it's quite a few sizes too small for me now!
