Kipling bags

What are the general thoughts on Kipling bags? I keep getting tempted to buy one but then I love my leather bag, though it weighs quite a bit with nothing in it.

I like the idea of a lightweight fabric bag but then again they don't look very dressy or put together. I don't want to splash out for one and then regret it. I do like the coloured stripey ones I've seen.

I like them. I have 3

chatwoo · 23/02/2019 00:50

I like them, they are great for internal pockets, key holder etc. I have a backpack that I only use for travel, as well as the "Firefly Up" backpack, that also has a shoulder /crossbody strap.

NotMyUsualTopBilling · 23/02/2019 00:52

I got one for £12 from eBay, I quite like it when I don't need to cart my rucksack around but then I am definitely not dressy or put together!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 23/02/2019 00:58

I don’t like them- they look grand in the promotional photos etc, but I think they can look really untidy in real life as they go very crumpled and don’t have a proper structured shape.

I have the same thing about not liking leather bags because of the weight- I’ve just bought a few colours of the Longchamp Le Pliage tote which are tardis-like but still fabric and lightweight.

TodoDoingDone · 23/02/2019 09:42

Looking for a lightweight bag, I came across a light collection here:www.jackgomme.com
I've seen them in real life and they are light and look good, though they're a bit shiny. The price has stopped me getting one, but a friend has one and they last well, she says.

JaceLancs · 23/02/2019 09:45

I don’t like them at all
However I have a fab Kipling purse which has just the right amount of pockets to suit my needs

AmethystRaven · 23/02/2019 09:54

I like them, they are so easy to carry around but I'm not sure I'd pay full price for one. I buy them on ebay as there are lots of quality used ones on there, so maybe you could try that and if you don't get on with it just stick it back on ebay.

QueenieMum · 23/02/2019 11:55

I only have one and I love it. Really practical, lots of compartments and pockets and can generally be chucked around with no ill effects. The only downside is that they are really casual & if I'n travelling for work (where I usually need to dress smartly) I need to choose a non-Kipling bag as mine is too casual. Depends what you're looking for but I'd recommend them.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 23/02/2019 14:06

My sister loves these. She has quite a few. They are definitely a casual bag though.
She sold quite a lot on eBay and still got good money for them and she has also brought quite a few in charity shops.

LightAsTheBreeze · 23/02/2019 14:13

They seem to last well and don’t go tatty, also seems reasonably waterproof. I bought all of mine on deal of the day on Amazon or TK Maxx. I have a rucksack, travel bag and 2 handbags

goose1964 · 23/02/2019 15:32

I love them. Unfortunately I left one on the train before Christmas and haven't seen it since

ATowelAndAPotato · 23/02/2019 15:34

I love mine, I always get compliments. I have one of their laptop bags for work and often get asked where I got it.
I’ve yet to pay full price for any of them, they have sales relatively often to make way for new patterns so even on their own website you can often get 30% off.

AdaColeman · 23/02/2019 15:36

I love them and have got several, (including the monkeys!). They are especially good when travelling as they are so light.

ATowelAndAPotato · 23/02/2019 15:36

If you’re not sure, worth looking on QVC as returns are so easy through there.
Although I’ve found Kiping’s own customer service to be very good too.

Deathraystare · 23/02/2019 15:51

I love them. Have a few. Amazingly light and can cram quite a bit in them even the smaller ones .

Probably not for ultra smart occasions though.

Beebumble2 · 23/02/2019 16:21

The brand Spirit, is a Kipling dupe, not so expensivbut just as light and roomy.

MinesaPinot · 23/02/2019 18:37

I've got several and I love them. Brilliant for travel particularly as they are so lightweight. I tend to go for the more basic or neutral colours rather than the 'fashion' colours or prints. It's worth looking on the website at the various styles to see what appeals. Can you get to a stockist so that you can judge?

MinesaPinot · 23/02/2019 18:39

PS. This might be sacrilege to the Kipling faithful, but I ditch the monkeys - they're naff IMO.

BlythesEyes · 23/02/2019 23:27

I can't stand them. To me they look like children's school bags. A bit sweater shop of the 80's. ... sorry 😳

chatwoo · 24/02/2019 05:11

Haha, @MinesaPin, i remove the monkey as well. I actually had someone want to take 2-3 of them, off my hands via Gumtree, which I was very happy about!

LightAsTheBreeze · 24/02/2019 05:13

I'm also one that ditches the monkeys, I always use these bags for holidays though and also use one daily for work as it fits all my stuff in and I can cram it in my drawer without worrying that it will look a mess at home time.

Swiftier · 24/02/2019 10:41

Find them a bit grumpy/boring/too practical - I think there are much nicer bags in that price range to be honest.

Swiftier · 24/02/2019 10:41

Frumpy not grumpy 😂

BlueMerchant · 24/02/2019 10:46

I think they look cheap and dated. Monkey thing is ultimate tat- worse than the Radley dog.
