Have just ordered this dress for a wedding next month.

What kind of shoes should I wear? And what tights?

I'm usually more of a black dress/woolly tights/Fly boots kind of person, so it's a struggle to come up with something smart. I own no shoes that would work.

Do you think these would work?

Please help!

Stunning dress. I also love the shoes and they would work but I feel the whole thing needs lifting a bit - it is a wedding after all. Personally I’d wear silver heels and get a navy to silver bag!
No tights.. tights will make the whole thing look old lady.
Shaved legs and fake tan

Thanks for the advice - really not sure I can do bare legs in March though! Maybe I'll go for some very sheer flesh-coloured tights. To be fair, I am quite old so maybe looking old lady doesn't really matter Grin. Have just spotted some navy satin shoes with ribbon bows, which do look a bit more "weddingy". I live in black normally, so navy is a bit of a departure for me. Will have a look at silver though, as I'll be wearing silver jewellery.

LOVE the suit.

These shoes? debenhams

SherlockHolmes · 22/02/2019 22:05

Ooh they're far too high unfortunately. DH is only an inch taller than me, so I don't usually wear heels as I tower over him. too boring?

Gorgeous. Maybe replace the ribbons with silver or coral?

Something like this?

I'd go with either nude or silver shoes. Navy make it too dark

MoltonSilver · 22/02/2019 22:34

Totally love the dress but not the shoes. The shoes need to be more Jackie Onassis and less pantomime dame (sorry, not a fan of irregular choice and have had 2 glasses of wine Wine) -either kitten heels or pointed court shoes.

You need either a stiletto or a kitten heel with a pointy toe.

Yes I think Irregular Choice would be a bit much. Got carried away on the Lindy Bop website I think!

Will try to find silver kitten heels. What about my legs though??

I'd go with a contrasting colour.

Get M&S Autograph 5 denier tights. They look as though you aren’t wearing any but give you a nice colour

gettingtherequickly · 23/02/2019 08:16

Yes, I'd buy the finest denier tights you can find.

Sophiemtb · 23/02/2019 10:15

Nice suit, I love the retro vibe you've got going on there. Personally I would wear natural tights and black court shoes with about a two inch heel. This may sound a bit 'old lady' I know, but I think comfort is important at all day events. A few years ago I bought a new pair of shoes for a wedding that were higher than what I would normally wear. By the time we reached the reception I was pretty much carrying them.

SherlockHolmes · 28/02/2019 18:47

Well the dress arrived and it's lovely but... My flab hangs out under the arms and it's quite low at the back, so bra straps show Sad. Do you wise women think I could wear a long sleeved shrug over the dress (for when I have to take off my jacket)? Or is that a bit weird?

The dress is amazing! As it’s a wedding I’d go for some really bright coloured shoes and match with a handbag? Maybe shocking pink or red?
