Any Ester Lauder fans about?

I've won an Estée Lauder make up lesson/ make over in the school Xmas raffle. I need to book it before the voucher runs out.
I'm not really a make up wearer ( mascara is my limit) but I'm intrigued enough to go. I'm pushing 50 and very pale
I'd welcome any tips or suggestions to make the most of my freebie.

The sumptuous extreme mascara is brilliant. So is the waterproof version of it.

Tell them first and foremost you don't want Doublewearing (thick gloopy foundation that makes everyone look like Barbara Cartland) or tango-ing. Their foundation palette seems to run from orange to slightly more orange to full on satsuma.

I was talked into being made up (am also pale) and when I looked at myself in the mirror (on the bus!!!) I literally shrieked out loud.

The lipsticks are nice though.

Oh no! Doublewear is the foundation loads of people rave about!
Although the name implies it's really heavy duty to me.
I need pale! And no pink as my menopausal hot flushes add enough colour.

Doublewear is amazing! I wear Ecru shade, not even slightly orange! To me it feels lightweight too! I've worn it for years. All my other make up is cheaper but I won't compromise on this. Try it! Must say I prefer my rimmel lash builder mascara than an Estée Lauder one I have.

MadisonMontgomery · 22/02/2019 17:33

Honestly, I love double wear - it is very buildable, and a light coat applied with a damp beauty blender looks nothing like the brush-applied spackle some people use it for!

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 22/02/2019 17:36

I love double wear. They've changed the formula and it's much more dewy than it used to be. I'm pale and wear a lovely cool shade.

TurquoiseWeekend · 22/02/2019 17:37

Doublewear is amazing. I wouldn't use any other foundation. I'm really really pale and I use shell. Definitely not orange.

Domino45 · 22/02/2019 17:48

Double wear is great! It’s long wearing and for a more natural look you only apply a small amount. The colours are great too, mines definitely not organic toned. They have just brought out the new double wear powder foundation reformulated & it’s great & natural looking. The mascaras are okay. Currently using the double wear mascara.

Bangingdoors · 22/02/2019 17:51

Double wear and double wear light are Fab. They've a huge variety of shades and tones and they use a machine to match to your skin tone.
Maybe try and do some research first on their shades and also figure if you're warm or cool tone so you've an idea what tone type you'll be.

princessbear80 · 22/02/2019 17:53

I love their tinted brow gel. Nice and subtle, and a good range of shades.

Catscratchclub · 22/02/2019 18:07

An illuminating primer under double wear is the dewy holy grail - not heavy handed at all, so don’t be put off as all the others have said!

I love their eyeshadows too - and as pp said, the mascara is fab as well.

Princess the menopause has put paid to my eyebrows.

They don't just do orange, they have a great range of foundation colours, maybe some counter staff are less well trained in matching foundation to people's skin tones

Vividdreaming · 22/02/2019 19:51

I came to say double wear is amazing. If it looks caked and orange it’s becuase it hasn’t been applied properly and is the wrong colour

HaventGotAllDay · 22/02/2019 20:47

You buggers! Now I'm going to have to try it again!
As a slight hijack I just had a really weird deja vu as thought I'd posted on this thread under an old user name! DrinkSangriaInThePark- I used to be DrankSangriaInThePark! You have excellent taste in user names!

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 22/02/2019 20:56

Ha! That's mad Haven't ! Great taste!!!
