Hi I'm looking for some help, I have 2beach holidays this year and I get an awful rash mainly on arms and chest whether is sun or suncream I don't know. So I'm going to get a long sleeve rash vest this year, however what do I wear beneath it? Do I put it over my costume? Or just wear bikini bottoms? (My daughter does that but she is a child) what about the boobs? Just flapping about under a rash vest will definitely not give that surfer chick look more oh good the sack of potatoes arrived and some are trying to escape look 🙈
So wise ladies of MN what do I wear with this so I don't look crazy and can enjoy the sun?

I wore a bikini under mine last year, and was seriously overdressed given nearly everyone else was topless. But I didn’t get sun sensitivity!

Bikini or sports bra under a rash vest depending on level of activity.
You can get long sleeve swimsuits from Roxy and other surf brands too. Try Surfdome for ideas.

If you're not going to take it off you could just wear a bra underneath it...

Bluefrontdoor · 21/02/2019 19:34

Yeah I know I will be over dressed 🙈 my family are already say oh no you can't wear that, but I just can't see another option 😫
Hmm perhaps I need a bikini just a cheapy to go under

I thought a bra would be harder to dry, didn't think of sports bra though, and didn't know about long sleeve costumes that could work.
Thanks

DH wore one last year and it was great. I am looking for full sleeve ones for the whole family this year.

I really want one which zips up the front otherwise I suspect I won’t be able to take it off without my bikini top going with it.

Bluefrontdoor · 21/02/2019 20:35

I got a zipped up one from Amazon I wore it last year in my friends pool was great but need some umph in the boobs for public wear 🙈

Bikini top all the way. I don’t understand the concept of wearing a bra underneath it when bikinis exist for exactly the purpose of swimming and being on the beach and all the stuff you’ll be doing in the rash vest

I got a nice rash vest and shorts last year from Boden. I wear a bikini top underneath. The rash vest is great for holidays, going to water parks etc.

GemmeFatale · 21/02/2019 22:57

Next are doing rash suits this year. I haven’t tried one but basically a long sleeved zip front swimsuit shaped thing in thinish rash guard material. Might be worth a look.

Bikini or swimsuit - Decathlon do mix and match swim/surf wear.

Scattyhattie · 22/02/2019 01:56

Lands End also sell them

Surely just sorting out the rash in the first place would be better? My DD suffered with sun sensitivity very badly, then her GP advised taking antihistamines for a month before going on holiday, and it worked!
However, if your rash is a reaction to sun cream, you need to change the brand!

bingohandjob · 22/02/2019 03:42

I always wear a rash vest as I'm extremely sensitive to the sun and sun cream (and I don't really want to tan!). I've got rash vest from Boden and Lands End and both are really comfy and I wear them over whatever I'm wearing in the sea - costume or bikini. No one bats an eyelid on holiday. You can pick up zipped ones from surf shops online too but I've never found it a problem without a zip.

soontobe I'm not sure how taking drugs is a better option?Confused

anniehm · 22/02/2019 08:21

Bikini under is best, depending on where you are going, a wetsuit may make more sense

MaybeDoctor · 22/02/2019 08:35

I now wear a long-sleeved rash vest and rash shorts for sea swimming. Both from Amazon. Bra style M&S bikini underneath.

Anything that prevents some of the severe sunburn I have had before is a good thing!

I wear a short-sleeve one for the pool and just a bikini or swimsuit for sitting under an umbrella.

babysharkah · 22/02/2019 08:54

I have PLE so now double up in a long sleeved rash vest and take antihistamines for most of the summer.

I always wear a bikini top or swimsuit under mine.

donajimena · 22/02/2019 08:57

Bikini top under mine.

WinterHeatWave · 22/02/2019 09:01

I wear a swimsuit and rash vest, but mainly because I dislike the gap I get when the top scrunches up!!!
Suggest bikini or swimsuit underneath!
