Please get me out of per una jeans

I'm 52, and have put on a lot of weight around my tummy over menopause but have always been curvy. Currently size 18 ish and am on a healthy eating/exercise programme. I seem to have got into a wardrobe rut so I pretty much live in per una straight leg jeans with boots or supergas and a top, I tend to like shirts/blouses as I get too hot in jumpers and sweatshirts make me look like a big cube. I don't have a lot of money but would like to update my wardbrobe a bit. Maybe some trousers, a nice jacket? I don't have an office based job, work is okay as I do a physical job where jeans are acceptable but I'm thinking more weekends/off days when I'd like to look a bit smarter but still casual. Thanks!

Uniqlo do pull-on stretch trousers in various colours that look like you've made an effort but are very comfortable to wear. I like the leggings trousers, but they also do a looser fit. Just check the materials, some of them are all manmade fibres which I don't like, I prefer the ones that are mostly cotton. They are especially good for an apple-shape like me.

Thanks do you mean like these www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-ultra-stretch-cropped-fit-leggings-trousers-413120.html?dwvar_413120_size=SMA002&dwvar_413120_color=COL27&cgid=IDleggings1392, they all seem to be above the ankle, what would you wear on your legs, still feels a bit chilly for bare ankles?!

How tall are you? I'm 5' 6" and usually need to take up the full length leggings trousers (by 'take up' I obviously mean the lazy option of fold under after I put them on). I've never bought the cropped trousers, but by looking at the photos I'm assuming that my legs are about 2" shorter than the model legs, so the cropped trousers wouldn't be as short on me as they are on the model. If I didn't want to show ankle I would wear boots or hi-top trainers.

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the website if you want full length, the stock turns over very quickly and there’s always new stuff coming in.
