What would you do with this midi skirt? (Pic)

I bought two similar skirts which look really frumpy on me. Just not working. I am wondering how to make them more acceptable for spring/summer. I look like my aunts wearing them. I can't really afford not to ditch them.

Would trainers and very plain tshirt work? I have really big boobs so normal tshirts don't always look great.

I would opt for a plain black jumper

Hollowvictory · 19/02/2019 17:21

Maybe a boat neck black top.
Not trainers, maybe mules?

Hollowvictory · 19/02/2019 17:21

Or wedges

Happyhalfterm · 19/02/2019 17:34

Won't wedges, sandals make it even more "ladylike'? Must admit it's a long time since I wore mules or similar so not on my radar. Will have a look.

I wore a few times with black jumper tights and ankle boots. Still wasn't quite right but ok.

I'd find a thin, loose v-neck t-shirt in the same green as the leaves or a cream/white and wear it tucked in with a long necklace (something modern) and flat gladiator style sandals in the summer.

Month in material anytjing please....O speak as one with big boobs.

Black or deep purple polo neck top or jumper. Rolled up bsleeves. Upstyled hair
Ankle boots or open toed sandals with preferably high heels (not wedges) Absolutely no jewellery. Just maybe a gold ear cuff if you must

Amrapaali · 19/02/2019 18:53

Could you shorten the length possibly?

Loraline · 19/02/2019 18:55

Check out Kemi Telford on Instagram for how to style patterned midi length skirts. Hers are fabulous but the styling is gorgeous too.

Happyhalfterm · 20/02/2019 20:20

I haven't worn heels in nearly 10 years and hair isn't long enough for wearing up. But good to hear ideas thank.

I have had a look and love the Kemi Telford stuff. A bit more quirky than I am but I like it. Great skirts.

Grey jumper, purple tights, ankle boots and vintage beads.

I am probably frumpy Blush. The purple tights are in, according to last Saturday's Times though Grin

shecamefromgreece · 20/02/2019 20:30

Black jumper (cashmere if you can) chunky boots ideally hiking style.

Bowsbows · 21/02/2019 00:38

You said spring/summer, so I'm not going to suggest black jumpers or heavy boots. For S/S, I'd do a loose-fit silky vest or shell top, probably black, and black and tan or jewelled or strappy gladiator type sandals. . I think a t-shirt would be hard to pull off unless a supermodel who has tied it in a knot at the front or side showing off a washboard stomach. Grin

If you could pull off a white vest then I'd play up the slightly boho vibe. Maybe layer with a denim jacket. Then you could wear the trainers. I just wouldn't do a t-shirt, I think a t-shirt with that would look frumpy. It needs sharpening up. That means delicate (or strappy gladiator) sandals, thin vest top, etc. Basically it is frumpy (sorry) so you are battling that from the start. The rest of the outfit has to be not frumpy, unless it's the actual wearer (as in model type, which 99.9% of us are not [grin[)

CountFosco · 21/02/2019 13:01

I wouldn't wear a black top with that skirt, the colours aren't right. And definitely don't wear pretty heels.

I have a patterned midi skirt and depending on the weather it's worn with stan smiths or leopard print loafers on my feet. Then a slogan t-shirt and army jacket or slouchy jumper/sweatshirt.

Don't go mega matchy matchy (well, a bit of subtle matchy matchy might work, my skirt has a tiny touch of beige in it that goes with the leopard print). If we're talking that particular skirt I'd possibly wear burgundy trainers with a grey t-shirt or a burgundy t-shirt with leopard print flats. Bum40 wears outfits like this all the time so worth looking at. You basically want to be wearing things together that would make your mother tut. Or is that just me?

Angelinthenightx · 21/02/2019 22:08

A plain tshirt would be modern with trainners alot of youtubers are wearing that kinda thing ,does look nice together.id have the tshirt and trainners matching x

thedevilinablackdress · 21/02/2019 22:15

Scoop neck t-shirt in any if the colours of the skirt. Trainers. Something plain-ish eg Vans, Adidas.
