I’ve done it with ‘30 day lash mascara’. It’s a bit fiddly, do one eye lash at a time but it works fine and you’ll get several applications out of the box.

I meant one eye at a time not one lash! Grin

I dye my own eyebrows and lashes every month. I use the 30 day one in brown.

Do your patch test and then follow the instructions. I leave mine longer now I've being doing it for years. Wipe off mistakes or blobs straight away because the will stain (obvs).

Thank you both for your replies.

I used to do this it was fine. I used Vaseline around the skin near eyes/around brows to avoid accidental stains

I do mine too - I brought some tinting stuff off Amazon

picklemepopcorn · 18/02/2019 14:36

@SparkofJoy do you leave the lashes or brows on longer? I read somewhere that one takes much quicker than the other.

Yippeee · 18/02/2019 15:03

I’ve done it using the 30 day stuff but it barely made a difference so it was a waste of money. Same at a salon too so I think it’s best if you already have long thick eyelashes. Mine are fine and need tons of mascara to look thicker.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/02/2019 19:42

I use Strictly Professional from Amazon - it’s the same thing they use in the salon I go to for threading. The stuff from Boots isn’t strong enough to make a difference since there was a change in what was allowed to be sold ingredients-wise.

UtterlyDesperate · 18/02/2019 19:46

The 30 day stuff used to be really effective, then EU guidelines changed on what percentage of hydrogen peroxide (? Maybe?) could be used in at home products, and it's now really woeful - my eye lashes in particular really take dye well, but with the new formulation, it only seems to show for a couple of days.

If you have a Sally's nearby, get tint there - if you buy the professional version, it still takes properly, and is no harder to use than the old formulation of Eyelure. I always need to do one eye at a time, though!

SparkofJoy · 18/02/2019 19:58

I leave my brows longer than my lashes. As I've been doing this for 15 years or more I wing it. I tend to do it a few times to get the tint dark enough, it isn't as dark as it used to be. I use the mascara brush with the set, have a really steady hand and a bright mirrored light.

monicastwinsister · 18/02/2019 20:59

i use 30 day. i use an egg cup to mix the dye/ activator in black and apply to lashes. after 5 mins in the same eggcup i make up the brown and apply= 10 mims total. i find the left over of the black mixed with the brown makes a decent dark brown if that makes sense. wipe it all off, have a cuppa/ clean eggcup etc. using some of the cuppa/kettle water put wax tube in a mug to heat while drinking tea. then its all perfect/ brows dry for waxing.

monicastwinsister · 18/02/2019 20:59

i don`t vaseline any more, just a steady hand and wipe off rogue bits immediatley!
