Accidently scratching self when do they grow out of it?

My 7 year old has said she would like to grow her nails long but I have to keep them short because she accidentally scratchs herself if her nails get a little bit long, what age do children usually grow out of it

Erm I still do that now

I'm 33 and covered in bloody scratches.

I don’t know the answer but i would have thought that 7 is a bit young to have long nails. They’re not practical for kids that age imo
