Chunkier trainers to flatter stocky legs?

What are some nice smart trainers to wear with jeans that are on the chunkier side?

I'm realising converse no longer suit me since I've gone up a dress size. I think I need a chunkier style to balance everything out.

There are lots of chunky trainers in Office - Adidas Stan Smiths, Nike Air Force 1, or more ‘dad’ trainers like chunky running shoes?

Juicyfrooty · 14/02/2019 21:16

I've just got some adidas samba rose ones, they are lovely

Betty777 · 14/02/2019 22:05

Adidas can be good. Vans are slightly chunkier than Converse and I find them more flattering for the same reason (plus a tiny bit lower cut so can make legs look a bit longer)

@fiorentina I wasn't thinking of the chunky dad running trainers. Think I'd get a few funny looks on the school run wearing those where I live! I do love Stan Smiths etc but find they are more wide and what I'm probably looking for is a chunky, slightly thicker sole. There doesn't seem to be much of an inbetween - it's either a regular sole or a noticeable platform a la spice girls!

@Juicyfrooty what colour did you go for in the samba rose? They do look nice

@Betty777 think I'll try some vans while out shopping today, thanks

www.adidas.co.uk/sambarose-shoes/B28163.html these ones, I spotted them when I was in office but found them cheaper on the adidas website.

I like quite a few of the other colours too. I think they'd be just what you're looking for, chunky sole without being a platform.

I like those adidas samba rose, I might get a pair. Adidas trainers are so comfortable. I have these and I love them.

icemaidens · 16/02/2019 12:46

Converse are doing a 'platform' pump now, I've seen them in loads of different colours too

Adidas Superstar. All the way.

Brummiegirl15 · 16/02/2019 21:02

Styled by Susie (who is fab!) recommends the Puma Cali's at the moment. I'm an hourglass, and your need a chunky trainer to balance out the body

millionaireshortie · 19/02/2019 07:47

@Brummiegirl15 oh just seen someone post on the group showing difference between flat converse and puma Cali and this is what I'm talking about! Thanks. Think I'll order a few different styles recommended on this thread and see what works best!

Superga are what I wear nowadays. Always lived in Converse. I have a few pairs some plain and also a silver pair for going out in.
Agree that Stan Smiths are still nice.

millionaireshortie · 19/02/2019 08:57

@converseandjeans the superga platform looks really really thick online - how are they in real life? I've never seen them in person. Love them so maybe worth a try but scared to look too much like my spice girls days! Did you size down in them?

millionaire I don't wear the platform ones just the normal ones. They are Italian so usual size or perhaps half a size bigger?
