What’s the holy grail of sports bras for big boobs?

ShirleyPhallus · 14/02/2019 15:02

Please?

I think the one Oti wears has been recommended here before but can’t find it now

34F if that makes a difference

Shock absorber Ultimate. Not cheap but worth it, boobs don’t move.

I’d suggest getting fitted for the first one, the band is quite tight so I had to go up a size. Once you know your size Keep an eye on Amazon/running sites for when they’re reduced.

@thecapitalsunited Shock Absorber isn’t underwired. It fits pretty high up as well so there’s no falling out.

amytwinehouse · 15/02/2019 11:07

I like panache too, used to have shock absorber but much prefer the fit of panache. It’s the first sports bra I’ve not felt the need to keep a bra on underneath (to prevent mono boob).
Definitely try on and look for snug cups but not too tight (or at least stretchy) across the back because as soon as you start exercising your rib cage will need to expand to accommodate deeper breathing.

Butteredghost · 15/02/2019 11:30

Does the shock absorber really work? It's non wired!

wheelygo · 15/02/2019 11:33

definitely shock absorber, look and feel like i've no boobs at all, 32GG

PregnantSea · 15/02/2019 11:37

I'm 32F and do high impact sports. Shockabsorber works great for me, highly recommend it.

oneyearnobeer · 15/02/2019 11:37

With sports bras compression is more important than wiring. Shock absorber are pretty good. When I had bigger boobs pre-kids I used Ennell and that really is the gold standard IMO. It is total monoboob but I dont really mind that

ShirleyPhallus · 15/02/2019 12:08

Thank you all! The biggest issue I have is that they all seem to be too low cut so I get a huge cleavage if I’m leaning forward

I’ve ordered two from the list above

If breasts bounce a bit when you move, but you don't find it uncomfortable to exercise in a normal bra or cropped top/soft sports bra, is it really a problem?

Worrying about sagging tits seems to be rather a cosmetic rather than a health issue.

The best thing seems to be to keep my weight down a bit, so my breasts aren't too massive and heavy, and doing some weight training/bearing exercise so that my pectorals support the weight of the flesh.

floribunda18 · 15/02/2019 12:17

Apparently wearing a bra that is too tight can cause nerve damage. In my experience that's much more likely to occur with a horrible tight, ill-fitting and bloody expensive sports bra than my normal, perfectly comfortable every day bras.

PCohle · 15/02/2019 12:25

But maybe it is uncomfortable. I know it is for me. And even if it was a purely cosmetic issue, people are allowed to be concerned about their appearance you know. Sometimes I even brush my hair before I leave the house.

I don't think anyone is suggesting the OP buy an ill fitting sports bra.

And why on earth should women have to lose weight to be able exercise? How do you lose weight in the first place without exercising?

God what a weird comment.

KatharinaRosalie · 15/02/2019 12:35

I could not run or do any high impact exercising in my normal bra. Boobs would bounce around and it would be uncomfortable at first, painful later. If you don't have this issue and are fine in everyday bra, then nobody is forcing you to buy sports bras.

Felicia4 · 15/02/2019 12:37

Worrying about sagging tits seems to be rather a cosmetic rather than a health issue
This is not true at all. Having big boobs on a small frame is known to potentially cause back pain. By not wearing the right fitting bra when exercising you can cause back strain. If you already have back problems, you can make them worse.
So for lots of women, it's really not cosmetic at all, it's the difference between being able to exercise with minimal pain or not being able to exercise at all.
Please wear the bra that you feel comfortable in, but please make sure it has enough support.

TheCag · 15/02/2019 12:43

I use Shock Absorber too, they last for years and and are brilliant. They aren't underwired but still really support me (DD or E cup). If you don't mind what colour you can often get them in the sale.

ladyratterley · 15/02/2019 12:53

I have this problem too OP. I have a couple from M&S but then when I lean over doing yoga my boobs seem to start coming out of the top!

I'm a 32g according to Boob or Bust but maybe more a 32f/ff in reality. I find the Shock Absorber by far the best. I've sized up in the band for comfort as they come quite tight so I wear a kind of sister size of 34dd.

ShirleyPhallus · 15/02/2019 15:36

Ahhhh, I love a proper batshit crazy reply and thought this thread would be way too boring for that

Thank you @floribunda18 for your insightful comments

Another vote for shock absorber!

randomsabreuse · 15/02/2019 19:42

I am very close (and big) boobed. 28K ish pre baby.

Did a couple of half marathons in Shock Absorber multisport in 32HH (up 2 back sizes to get in the cup, up 1 would have been better for longevity).

Panache wired has quite low wires in front, although the bra is high and would work well if full enough on top - useless for me as I don't fill the top and my boobs bounce inside. As it's underwired I couldn't size down the cup as the wires sat on breast tissue at the side. Didn't get on with unwired panache. Freya active non wire was ok but not as good as the keyhole back shock absorber. Royce Impact free less support than my nursing bras.

Currently running in 34K nursing bras with a slightly too small Molke and a compression top, plus a tight t-shirt and gilet or waterproof jacket. Really would like boobs to shrink before my ribcage does but not holding out much hope!

floppybit · 15/02/2019 20:17

I'm a 34G and I wear a Shock Absorber Ultimate Run Bra, has to be that one as it has an extra clasp higher up the back. It's brilliant, highly recommended.

wizzler · 15/02/2019 20:28

I wear either panache or shock absorber. Think I prefer the panache as it gives me a better shape. Also love their swim stuff

FreeButtonBee · 15/02/2019 20:34

Shock absorber here. Normally 32F/FF and go for 34F in sports bra. They are very high cut - almost crop top style so no chance of falling out the top. I can run and do hard core spin class no problem also yoga/Pilates etc. Eventually the hook and eyes give up but I abuse mine (full 60 degree spin cycle in the machine regularly) and still get about 3 years out of them.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 16/02/2019 08:01

I have a couple from Berlei. Very comfortable, true to size and give a surprisingly good shape as well as being fit for purpose.

Rollerbird · 16/02/2019 08:10

I'm a 32 f and the best I've found is this
