What do we think about Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter?

I fancy a lighter coverage base for Spring and have read great things about this product. I have dry skin and am always after a dewy, glowy finish. I would like a light to medium coverage for my base

Any experiences to share? Thanks

Just read about this today! Sounds amazing

Eagerly waiting to see if anyone has used it!

applepineapple · 13/02/2019 17:51

I have it. It doesn't give any coverage, but it is very glowy and makes gives the skin a fresh look. If you have any breakouts or pigmentation you will need to cover this with concealer

Sarcelle · 13/02/2019 18:06

I love it. Not a fan of CT products apart from this and the blusher (Love Glow). Don't like the much lauded concealer.

I don't wear the Filter stuff everyday, but when I do I wonder why I don't wear it more often. It can be used in many ways. I tend to use it as a base with concealer, but it can be mixed in with foundation or used to highlight.

Boasting a bit, but I have decent skin. It does not provide much cover if you need it so would not recommend using it as I do unless you don't need cover.

Its great if you have had a bad night's sleep, your skin looks perked up. Can look a bit shiny at the end of the day.

The bottle is annoying and strange. It looks like a regular foundation bottle but it has a rigid doe's foot applicator. A lot of product is going to be wasted (perhaps that's the idea...) and I wish they would redesign the bottle.

Lotsofsausage · 13/02/2019 19:30

Can you get hold of testers ? I’ve wanted to try this for ages.

Sarcelle · 13/02/2019 20:05

People are selling samples (sachets) of it on EBay so you must be able to get them. I took a punt and bought mine online untested and luckily it was my shade and I like the formula, but actually I would have tried samples if I had thought about it.

Calloway · 13/02/2019 22:46

It won't give you the coverage you're after as it's not a foundation as such. It made me look all sheeny and metallic. Perhaps I used too much.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/02/2019 23:10

Lone voice, but I gave mine away - I thought it was terrible. I noticed no effect unless I used loads, which made me look like a shiny, sweaty mess after a few hours.

Lottapianos · 14/02/2019 08:17

Hmm, mixed reports. Will definitely find a sample before I commit the full thirty quid! Thanks all

I love it, and I can use it as a lighter foundation. It perfects, though, rather than covering blemishes, so only works as a foundation when I’m not a spotty mess. At that point, I use it as a primer.

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/02/2019 09:47

I prefer the Becca backlight priming filter. I find it less ‘tin man’ than the CT. Plus, I’m not keen on the CT fragrance and I think her stuff is generally a load of fuss over nothing.

Sarcelle · 14/02/2019 14:28

The Becca Backlit is good as a primer. But I prefer the CT stuff for thin covering base. I totally get the "tin man" reference! If I apply too much I look too flawless, like a mannequin.

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/02/2019 15:18

My skin is fine (not perfect but no major issues that I feel the need to cover up), so I use it for glow more than anything. I don’t tend to use foundation or anything over the top,

Debruary · 14/02/2019 15:25

I think a lot of bloggers and vloggers have been told to say how amazing it is

Lottapianos · 14/02/2019 15:40

'I think a lot of bloggers and vloggers have been told to say how amazing it is'

I always feel that CT products are insanely overhyped by make up bloggers. I've used a few of her lipsticks- the mattes were ok and nothing more, the non mattes were some of the worst I've ever used, almost zero lasting power. Have heard very mixed reviews about the foundations too

queenofarles · 14/02/2019 16:04

Huge let down 👎🏻, I've waited months to get one, and it's really thick under my foundation.

I much prefer the wonder glow

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/02/2019 16:27

Targeting vloggers/bloggers/you tubers was CT’s key marketing strategy. They went hard on it. The packaging and hyper glamorous image really appealed to that superficial platform and it was definitely style over substance. There was lots of sponsored/gifted/undisclosed spamming of CT stuff.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 14/02/2019 16:34

There used to be a poster on here who was In-The-Know and they mentioned that CT had chosen to heavily invest in marketing and packaging over the actual product itself.

I’ve tried a few things across her range and it really isn’t anything to write home about once you get past the gold packaging.

Calloway · 14/02/2019 16:35

I wonder if CT still wears her bedtime makeup.

queenofarles · 14/02/2019 16:38

CT marketing strategy is pretty good, its based on total looks that you can create , which is pretty good for someone like me who is not that great with makeup, she is really big in the Middle East and her shop is so pretty and her staff are very well trained , learned lots of good tips to applying makeup from them.

But not everything works, her foundation is pretty crap and non of that magic cream or masks actually does anything than makes your skin look oily

Lottapianos · 14/02/2019 17:04

'they mentioned that CT had chosen to heavily invest in marketing and packaging over the actual product itself. '

Not surprised to hear this

Although I like the filter and the blush, I don't get the concealer that everyone raves about. It is in a huge tube but the amount of product you get is tiny compared to other brands, and is just a normal concealer, nothing magical. I also don't like her lipsticks (too drying) and don't get the hype around the shade that is meant to suit everybody (Pillow Talk). It makes me look like I have been dug up. And the Lip Cheat pencil - it's just a lip liner - don't understand why that get raves either. The cheat is you draw outside of your lip line to make your lips look bigger. So the same as you can do with every other lip liner.....

I don't actually know who Charlotte T is. I know she is a make up artist with a mass of gingery curly hair. I have never heard her speak. I get her confused with Kelli Hoppen. I do think that a lot of bloggers seem to reference her a lot so I already knew the deal, treat their recs with a bit of scepticism.

Sali Hughes, who takes great pains to say she is not promoting various brands in her Guardian column, often gives CT products a mention. I think the make up blogging worlds in UK is a tight knit one, they all seem to know each other.

I don't like the dated and cheap looking packaging. So over rose gold.

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/02/2019 17:08

I can’t bear CT’s ‘celeb personality’. She’s so on al the time. She reminds me of a coke fiend, talking at a mile a minute, extremely animated, talking about herself constantly. Exhausting and incredibly dull to be around, in equal measure.

Sarcelle · 14/02/2019 17:12

I must look her up, presumably on You Tube. She seems to annoy a lot of people.

Delatron · 14/02/2019 17:44

Sweet Jesus. Charlotte Tillbury have an enitire four page article (not marked up
as ‘advertorial’) in Grazia about all the products. She really is in bed will all the press and many influencers, really puts me off.

Debruary · 14/02/2019 17:52

The Flawless Filter thing launch was a bit of a damp quib, then all of a sudden the IG’ers, beauty bloggers etc were all like ‘I just didn’t really understand it when I first tried it, I was using it the wrong way, NOW I think it’s amazing blah blah’
