Argh! I’ve noticed my hair is thinning! I’m mid-thirties and my DD2 is 19 months. Lately I’ve noticed my hair seems to be thinning and lacking in body Sad
Please can you wise women of MN help me? What products can I use to rescue my once-beautiful hair?? Is started taking a hair, nails and skin vitamin so hoping that makes a difference.

Make sure you’re getting enough protein too.

I just bought some organic castor oil and almond oil. Have mixed the two in equal quantities and am using every evening to stimulate eyebrow growth. You could use the same on your hair.

yes to castor oil, mix a few drops of peppermint oil with it and leave on overnight (sticky and greasy but works) before washing off. Peppermint oil is scientifically proven to stimulate hair growth more than OTC medical prescriptions like minoxidil.

take Biotin supplements.

Use Plantur or Alpecin shampoo. I always add a few drops of peppermint oil in as well and leave on for a couple of minutes while it tingles.

Anything to get blood flow to the scalp - massage well with a towel, brush with a bristly brush (I use a scratchy one) it helps blood flow get to the follicles.

Also while you're waiting for regrowth - I find dry shampoo very helpful for volume

PS if you're under stress, try to find a way to reduce it. Makes a huge difference.

I use alfaparf shampoo for hair loss and it is FAB!!highly recommend!

B12 helped me, a bit. My levels were on the lower end of normal and a 24 pack made a difference to my energy levels, cycles and hair loss.

Lots of possible causes but useful to know which it is so you can manage it best. Can get low thyroid function post pregnancy, low ferritin can also be a cause, might be worth a chat to GP to rule these out? After that make sure dirt is good - plenty of protein, zinc, iron etc. Sea kelp and biotin also used my many. There are a couple of products with decent clinical trial results too like Vichy Aminexil which definitely help.

Thanks for all your help, am so scared it’ll just get worse and I’m be bald Confused

I’m also going to see the doctor about thyroid issues. That may be a cause. Thanks for the great tips everyone.

I used Plantur 39 for about a year and raved about it stopping my (peri men) hair loss. It did stop a lot of the hair loss but after about 6mths my hair started to become really brittle and was snapping off.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 14/02/2019 07:01

I’ve had this recently - blood test showed low iron levels and very low vit D.

JE17 · 14/02/2019 07:40

I had this and eventually a bald spot developed at the back of my head, followed by several smaller (more visible) bald patches. It turned out that it was a thyroid problem. As soon as i started taking the medication my hair began to grow back. It's still fine hair, but after the bald patches I'm just happy to have a full head of hair again.

Megatek is great for hair growth. Yes it is designed for horses but the same company make a version for humans but it is more expensive for the same formulation. It has had successfully helped people who have lost hair through chemo. Have a google there are loads of testimonials.

Oh and it smells of pina colada!

I've been using Beauty Kubes (ugh, hate that K) to try and reduce my plastic usage, and they give me thicker hair somehow.
