Miscellar water?

Ok where am I going wrong? I thought this stuff was meant to remove makeup? Well I put it on a cotton pad and rubbed my eye. I was left with a sore panda eye. Went back to the trusty Vaseline to remove my eye make up. It’s No 7 miscellar water if that makes a difference...

There was a recent thread about this. Seems to happen to a lot of people, including myself. Don't know why. Which Vaseline one is it? I'm still looking for something that's kind to my ever red eye area 🙄🙄🙄

Micellar water causing sore eyelids, anyone else suffer this? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/3460486-micellar-water-causing-sore-eyelids-anyone-else-suffer-this

I’ve had sore eyelids. They sort of got paper cuts on them. Very painful.
Switched to Simple eye makeup remover and it’s cleared up.

Somuchroom · 10/02/2019 09:36

squirrelnutkins I just use actual Vaseline. Get a blob, rub into eye, wipe off with cotton pad. Works wonders even with waterproof mascara. (Hope I tagged ok, not sure how to do it on phone)

Glad it’s not just me then using it incorrectly.

I don't think it's for eye makeup. I use on my face it to remove foundation, but use an eye make up remover for mascara etc.

milienhaus · 10/02/2019 10:34

I use the Garnier one and it takes off all my make up (including eye make up) no problem. I soak it into a cotton pad then sit it over my eye for a few seconds and then wipe.

LancashireTea · 10/02/2019 10:43

Maybe choose a gentle one instead? Some really make my eyes sore. Im currently using one from Primark ATM that is gentle, but fab. I also use a soft flannel rather than cotton pads as well.

Violetroselily · 10/02/2019 11:41

Garnier and B (superdrug brand I think) work very well for me and get absolutely all of my make up off

User5trillion · 10/02/2019 11:41

I use coconut oil, the best eye make remover ever. It doesn't sting my eyes and removes every last trace

MissMarplesKnitting · 10/02/2019 11:48

Get a face halo or three! Amazing! Get all make up off with just water. I just need to wash my face afterwards

LittleCandle · 10/02/2019 11:49

I found the Simple micellar eye stuff didn't take off my eye make up, so I went back to their other stuff, which is amazing. I do like the cleanser for my face, though.

greenelephantscarf · 10/02/2019 11:50

micellar water is a con imo.
it's basically just soap.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 10/02/2019 11:55

I always have to rub too hard with miscelar water to actually get the make up off. Plus I’m pretty sure it gives me spots, my skin has been so much better since I stopped using it. I’m currently using Clinique take the day off balm, which is brilliant stuff!

Somuchroom · 10/02/2019 12:30

MissMarplesKnitting does the halo work for waterproof eye makeup? Very intrigued, especially if it helps cut down waste.

User5trillion coconut oil, genius. I’m sure this will be much better for my skin than smearing petroleum jelly on it. Thank you, will try.

I also use garnier and it works, but yes leaves me with sort eyelids, just on top where the eyelashes root. I do have sensitive and very dry skin though

squirrelnutkins1 · 10/02/2019 20:26

The pink garnier one is awful on my eyes. The one with oil was ok.

I'm interested in the face halo.... not heard of. Positive reviews on line...
