Sure it's been asked a million times but I need help! Looking for a decent, long lasting foundation and blush/bronzer that lasts all day...or any tips to get mine to stay put! What should I be looking for?

What's your skincare like underneath make up?

I use Estée Lauder double wear. I apply it with a foundation brush and its lasts all day, if I forget to take my makeup off at night - it's still in place in the morning! Best foundation I've used by a long way.

NoNameIdeas · 09/02/2019 21:32

Skin care: use Liz Earle cleanse and polish twice a day, followed by toner and moisturiser but other than that limited! All help gratefully received!

@muchprefersummer thanks! Will take a look

@1Redacted1 that all makes perfect sense! I don't think I touch my face that often, but I've not really thought about it...will definitely be more conscious of it now

While EL Doublewear has lasting power it is full on, you look like your heavily made up. It also doesn't suit dry skin as sits in every patch, crevice, line, wrinkle and pore. I avoid like the plague.

justilou1 · 09/02/2019 22:36

If you can get it, I’m getting great results from the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Foundation. (I’m 46, very good skin, (for my age) I live in Aus & it’s hot and humid at the moment. If it stays put here & now, it’s good stuff!) It’s medium-full coverage, but not matte and I’ve been getting compliments galore. Great shade range and it’s cheap! (New to Australia, too.) The concealer is better than the new over-hyped Fenty one IMO.

"While EL Doublewear has lasting power it is full on, you look like your heavily made up. "

Yes, they use it on TV, but in real life it looks too much, especially when it's fresh on in the morning.

collywobble · 10/02/2019 11:25

I use double wear and as long as it's applied sparingly it's great . It really does last all day and night . I have normal skin but wrinkles and open pores and don't find it cakes into them .

thinkingcapon · 10/02/2019 13:04

What type of moisturiser? Primer? Setting spray? X

wink1970 · 10/02/2019 21:03

EL double Wear, but you need to moisturise first then apply with a wet sponge. They now also do a lighter version which I’m trying but not sure on yet, I prefer to let down the other one. FWIW I use about 5 very small dabs and it lasts all day.

I just posted on another thread so just saying that don’t work for them I just need my make up to look natural (I’m 48) and last all day. This is the best I know, after many years of trying, though in my younger years I also liked Bare Minerals.

I use EL double wear, but don’t think my face looks overly made up. I bought a pump rather than pouring the foundation out.

Firstly, I use a light serum from Boots and then Liz Earle moisturiser.

I put 2 pumps’ worth of the EL foundation on the back of my hand and apply using a damp Real Techniques sponge applicator. I sort of tap it on my face to get good coverage without it looking like a mask.

Previously, I’ve applied my foundation with a bush, but found that I used lots of product that sat on my skin.

I finish off with setting powder, a swirl of bronzer and blusher.

That might sound like a lot, but I need the bronzer and blusher to give my face colour, otherwise it looks one-dimensional and flat.

RockyFlintstone · 10/02/2019 21:14

Do you use a setting spray? I have found them to be a game changer.

I started with the Urban Decay one, but the NYX one is just as good and loads cheaper.

Just found this thread so I’m maybe a bit late to the party for anyone to reply. I use EL double wear as I have greasy skin with occasional spots mostly around the jawline, some pigmentation and large pores. I sound delightful Grin I like double wear as it gives good coverage (it can be easy to go overboard and look a bit mask-like).
I struggle though with oil coming through on nose and chin after only a few hours which makes the foundation sit in the pores and if I touch my skin the foundation just slides off. I wear primer, I switch between EL The Mattifier, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, Bare Minerals Prime Time and Maybelline Baby Skin but none of them prevent me looking like I have a oil slick down the centre of my face!!
I use Dermalogica active moist moisturiser.
I feel so self conscious that I’m starting to avoid talking to people as I’m convinced they will think I look awful!!

lottieleo · 14/02/2019 21:53

Urban decay setting spray is great and I have super oily skin

Bubba1234 · 14/02/2019 21:56

I feel like double wear gives me spots
Giorgio Armani primer and silk foundation all the way forver
I am using a body shop bronzer at the moment it’s great for the price

jeaux90 · 14/02/2019 23:31

Eyelid primer. My eyeshadow was always the thing that didn't last but I bought a decent one and it's a winner

NoNameIdeas · 16/02/2019 22:06

Thank you all so much for your replies (sorry for slow response, have been ill!) going to definitely get myself a setting spray and try that first and then see how I get on with some of the foundations mentioned.

I love ELDW but it's really only for us oily skin girls I think.

I apply a tiny amount with a stippling brush and use a damp beauty blender to blend. By damp I mean run it under the tap and then squeeze it in a towel.

Angeladelight · 16/02/2019 22:15

Laura mercier translucent powder really helps keep my make up place, it’s the best powder I’ve used and gives a good matte finish (without being too matte!)

justilou1 · 16/02/2019 23:43

Has anyone tried the Bounce makeup from Beauty Blender? It gets great reviews and I tested some the other day and it looked lovely. I’m going to go and get a larger sample today. It was was a fuller coverage than I’m used to (I don’t tend to go for full coverage at all) but I’m feeling the need now for some events coming up, but it was light and I couldn’t feel it on my skin. Didn’t go at all cakey on my extremely combo ageing skin. Many, many shade to choose from!
